Job description

nVent is seeking a visionary Director of Public Relations to serve as the lead architect of our segment businesses brand narrative and media presence. In this high impact role, you will link segment business goals to public perception. You will manage media relations strategy, executive access, and crisis management. You will work closely with HR, IR, and Marketing. Together, you will ensure that nVent's mission of connecting and protecting the world through electrical solutions is shared through compelling, data-driven storytelling across all platforms.
As we expand our PR capabilities, this candidate will play a pivotal role in building a world class communications organization supporting a B2B industrial company scaling from $4B to $5B and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the foundation of a growing function, influence how our story is told globally, and leave a lasting mark on a company in the midst of significant transformation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS POSITION:
  • Visionary and Strategic PR Leadership: Manage nVent's public relations strategy to enhance brand reputation and support long-term business goals.
  • Media Ecosystem Management: Build and harness high-impact relationships across local, trade, and mainstream business media, spanning print, online, and broadcast platforms.
  • Agency & Vendor Partnership: Manage PR agency relationships, establishing clear performance expectations and driving measurable results.
  • Proactive News-Making: Lead "news-mining" and storytelling initiatives, including press release development and media relations.
  • Crisis & Reputation Management: Support crisis communication and response activities in close partnership with the VP of Global Communications.
  • Executive Visibility & Thought Leadership: Partner with the Senior Manager of Content to develop narratives that elevate executive profiles and align with nVent's brand.
  • Coordinated Storytelling: Collaborate with our business segment marketing leaders, internal communications, HR, and IR to identify and amplify compelling stories that can support PR efforts and be used across other internal and external platforms (i.e. employee intranet, social media, etc.).
  • Performance Analytics: Lead all aspects of PR reporting and measurement, using data-driven insights to justify and refine communication strategies.

YOU HAVE:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, with 10+ years of progressive PR experience.
  • A strong background in journalism, corporate communications, or public relations, with an established network of media contacts and deep knowledge of the evolving media landscape.
  • Proven track record of developing compelling, multimodal stories, spanning written content, executive communications, and visual media, that resonate across diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing external PR agencies, with a track record of holding partners accountable to clear performance benchmarks.
  • Comfort using data and sentiment analysis to measure impact and guide strategy, with experience presenting insights to senior leadership.
  • Experience working in a matrixed or global organization, collaborating across functions and influencing without direct authority.
  • A growth mindset and genuine curiosity about the changing communications landscape.
  • Ability to travel up to 10-15%.

Pay Transparency
nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
Compensation Range:
$172,900.00 - $257,000.00
Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
