OPEN JOB: Senior Manager, Environmental Health & Safety
LOCATION: Columbus, Nebraska

BASE SALARY: $145,000 to $155,000

Ideal Candidate:
  • Ideal candidate has large manufacturing experience and ability to influence, shift and drive a culture change.
  • We are specifically seeking someone with experience in a "RECOVERY SITUATION". This particular site was red flagged for safety. 18 critical injuries this year. We need someone that is going to come in take charge and turn the situation around.
  • NOTE: this site is the world's largest production site for syringes and needles. The facilities manufacture billions of medical devices annually.

POSITION SUMMARY:
  • This position leads the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team at our large and complex manufacturing site.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall EHS program at the site, including creating and implementing strategic safety and EHS initiatives to foster and enhance our EHS culture.
  • This role requires a strong technical EHS skillset to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • It includes participation on the Plant Leadership Team and managing a team of direct reports as well as the ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
  • Ensures compliance with company quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and company safety regulations, policies and procedures.

LEADERSHIP:
Lead and manage a team of EHS professionals, providing guidance, support and development opportunities.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Develop and implement strategic EHS initiatives , policies, programs and metrics to continuously improve the site's EHS culture and performance.
  • Technical Expertise:Strong background in critical safety programs, such as LOTO, Machine Guarding, Powered Industrial Trucks, Electrical Safety and Fall Protection in order to coordinate day-to-day implementation of programs
  • Compliance:Ensure compliance with all relevant EHS regulations, laws, standards, permits/licenses and company policies.
  • Training and Development:Design and deliver training programs to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of the EHS team.
  • Incident Management:Facilitate incident investigations with strong root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Continuous Improvement:Drive continuous improvement in EHS processes and practices through data analysis, audits, and feedback.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into operational decisions and projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree required in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering or related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience in EHS management in a large manufacturing environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of LOTO, Machine Guarding, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in Medical Device, Chemical, or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience with OSHA PSM is preferred.
  • Experience managing a team in a cross-functional environment is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in ISO14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 compliance preferred.
  • Auditor certifications a plus
