JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the Growth Delivery team, the FLEX Director, Technology Planning & Activation will be an integral part of a team responsible for discovery and implementation of technology capabilities that enable Marriott's M&A initiatives and other growth opportunities. This Director will work across technology and other discipline teams, including external partners, to determine scope of work, budgets, and timelines, then execute against them. The Director will plan and implement the technical work required for Marriott to expand its brands and partnerships in support of strategic growth targets that position Marriott as the "World's Favorite Travel Company".

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, preferably in a business or technology discipline
  • 8+ years in business consulting, product/project management and/or technology, demonstrating progressive career growth and patterns of exceptional performance
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and experience planning and executing initiatives across multiple teams
  • Ability to establish clear communication and storytelling via presentations, including business & technology objectives to guide teams, and status updates to stakeholders
  • Understands and able to discuss technology concepts and build consensus by translating between technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Experience evaluating technology approach trade-offs and leading exploration of new opportunities with technical team members
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, mitigate, and resolve project risks
  • Experience working with product managers, engineers, and vendors, on product enhancements or product roadmaps
  • Strong interpersonal skills as a team player that works well with counterparts from various functions/departments and can influence the work of counterparts without direct reporting accountability
  • Ability to manage multiple high-complexity efforts and competing priorities
  • Comfort leading large team meetings in-person and virtually (on camera)

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Lead key areas of planning and implementation for technology integration development and testing required to enable growth opportunities
  • Provide direction for the technology development, including cost estimation, budget management, scope and delivery strategy definition, and establish milestones/schedules
  • Support discovery for Marriott growth opportunities and facilitation of solution design, identification of technical work units, estimation of cost and time required to complete technical work units, key assumptions, and open questions 
  • Provide thought leadership and translate business objectives to guide technical requirements and support issue/risk management, financial management, schedule management, and status reporting to stakeholders
  • Understand how our business and technology needs are evolving and provide insights and recommendations as you partner with key stakeholders to identify short-term solves, bridge strategies, and long-term visions for assigned product(s)
  • Gather and detail product requirements from stakeholders across the organization to inform roadmap items; evaluate technical complexity of requirements to appropriately prioritize work and manage expectations cross functionally
  • Partner with engineers to determine best technical implementation methods as well as a reasonable implementation schedule
  • Plan development, integration & test, deployment, and post-launch support working with applicable teams
  • Actively drives adoption of Technology operating model changes
  • Assess lessons learned from growth opportunity projects to continuously improve and mature the Global Technology application/integration development playbook and its associated deliverable templates
