Job Summary:

  • Manufacturing and Process Engineering support to the Cooler Integration Team. Your group supports manufacturing, performs failure analysis, and continually improves processes. You will develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences and processes used in the manufacturing or fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. We collaborate with design engineering on the release of new products. We estimate manufacturing costs, calculate time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements for new and existing product lines. We maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. The work is engaging, combines creativity with detail, and mechanics with theory. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform process development and generate work instructions. Own the process via 5M methodology

  • Evaluate product material & production defects and work corrective action with Quality Engineering, including evaluation of new suppliers or material changes

  • Be an active contributor in the MRB process. Address out of flow material ,Process non-confirming reports with dispositions, work with Production Control and Quality/Reliability Engineering as needed

  • Performing all necessary MES and/or ERP transactions

  • Train operators in new processes, verify existing processes are being adhered to through feedback to the Production Manager

  • Supporting ISO certification and Export Controlled Information as required by ensuring current and accurate work instructions and conduct

  • Engage with the Tooling design group to implement production improving devices

  • Focus on continuous improvement for output, yield, and cost reduction (Sustaining Engineering)

  • Ability to work using hands and have good manual dexterity

  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 lbs (and occasionally up to 50 lbs)

  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand or sit for extended periods

  • Certain vision abilities are also required when working in a cleanroom, Clean area and when using a microscope

  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, crouch, bend, and twist

The execution of the above tasks may include the following:

  • Generate and implement process documentation that is consistent with ISO 9001 and Export Controlled Information requirements

  • Specify, procure, and qualify new equipment as required to support development and production programs

  • Support Equipment Engineering by providing guidance on equipment operation and required periodic maintenance

  • Conduct processes development and process improvement activities

  • Train and certify operators on existing and new products as required

  • Work with Tool Design Engineering and Design Engineering on concurrent engineering

  • Interact at all levels of the organization (operator, peer engineers, managers, directors, vice presidents)

  • Interact with suppliers and internal customers as needed

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • 2+ years of mechanical or electromechanical related experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related technical discipline required

  • Engineering background and ability to quickly learn a new field such as cryocooler fabrication and integration

  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English

Desired Knowledge and Experience:

  • Material characterization techniques understanding

  • Infrared vision systems experience with cryocoolers, dewars and integrated systems

  • Vacuum Packaging Technology or vacuum systems

  • Lean Six Sigma experience (SPC, Hypothesis Testing, Design Of Experiments, DMAIC)

  • Statistical platforms experience (Minitab, JMP, SPSS, R, etc.)

  • Assembly process documentation

  • ISO/ITAR/EAR process and procedures

  • Proficient computer skills - Word, Excel & Outlook

  • Ability to use microscopes, calipers and micrometers and other electrical measurement equipment

  • GD&T understanding, mechanical design software and modeling

  • Solidworks

  • Programming language C# or Python is a plus

Salary Range:

$72,800.00-$97,100.000
