OVERVIEW Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking a Program Director for Study Abroad Programs to lead the development and administration of international study and exchange initiatives. The role supports overseas programs through operational oversight, student services, faculty collaboration, and institutional representation. This position also contributes to international scholarship coordination, participant support, and health and safety practices connected to study abroad opportunities.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage the development and administration of study abroad and exchange programs
  • Oversee budgeting and financial management for programs
  • Coordinate faculty recruitment for abroad programs
  • Promote programs and support student participation
  • Manage student selection and orientation processes
  • Coordinate financial aid support related to study abroad participation
  • Support re-entry programming for returning students
  • Conduct program evaluation activities
  • Oversee logistics including housing, registration, and insurance
  • Provide leadership to study abroad staff and affiliated faculty
  • Oversee exchange relationships with partner institutions
  • Coordinate international scholarship programs including Fulbright and Gilman
