Job description

FULLBEAUTY Brands™ is the premier fashion and lifestyle destination for the plus size customer. We are an online and catalog marketplace offering a curated collection of the finest family of plus size brands and thousands of products.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Art Director, Photography plays a pivotal role in collaborating with the Senior Director, Creative and Brand, and the Creative Director to shape the brand's visual identity by elevating all photographic work. This individual is responsible for both conceptualizing and executing a wide range of photographic needs, spanning editorial and e-commerce realms. Overseeing all aspects of pre-and post-production, the Art Director will collaborate closely with the Graphic Design and Retouching teams to ensure the delivery of imagery suitable for digital and print design applications. Working in tandem with the Production Team, they will secure samples, crews, locations, and more for seamless shoot coordination. The ideal candidate for this role possesses agility, creativity, responsiveness, and organizational prowess. Additionally, the Art Director will take on the role of mentoring and guiding the Associate Art Director, Photography.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Elevates and evolves the site aesthetic while supporting the overall brand direction.
  • Stay knowledgeable of current trends in social media, photography, and fashion to inform creative decisions and keep our brands at the forefront of the industry and to ensure that our creative approach remains relevant and competitive.
  • Spearhead the conceptualization of photoshoots, including storyboard creation, artistic direction, ensuring alignment with brand aesthetics and goal with approval from senior creative.
  • Lead the editing process and actively collaborate with internal and external partners, offering feedback and examples to drive the project forward.
  • Develop concepts and executions for both still and motion imagery, conveying vision and swipe files. Collaborate with the production team to actualize the envisioned imagery.
  • Demonstrate comfort and confidence in presenting conceptual ideas and artistic vision.
  • Builds and maintains relationship with Sample Coordinator to ensure timely receipt and readiness of samples for upcoming shoots.
  • Manages all retouching notes (on-figure and still imagery) promptly and efficiently all the way through post-production.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director to make selects and keep the post-production process moving.
  • Drive the retouching process; be able to collaborate/trouble shoot on challenging imagery.
  • Oversee the entire process from conceptualization to post-production, which includes identifying new talent, i.e. photographers, stylists, and casting, sourcing pertinent image and video references, and offering precise post-production guidance.
  • Work closely with essential cross-functional partners, such as Creative Director, Senior Director, marketing, social media, and website teams, to ensure that conceptual ideas align with and effectively serve business objectives and brand standards.
  • Provide production support as necessary, overseeing communication with crew members and coordinating shoot requirements while adhering to budgetary limitations.
  • Actively work with junior members of the team to make sure that all executions are of the highest quality and adhere to the brand.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in photography or graphic design
  • 5+ years of photo art direction experience required
  • Proficient in CaptureOne, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative: a “can-do” attitude
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for effective interaction with all levels of company management
  • Knowledge and/or familiarity with styling, retouching and production
