Job Title:  Girls Assistant/JV Basketball Coach

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Girls Assistant/JV Basketball Coach to help lead our basketball program. The junior varsity coach will be responsible for developing athletes both on and off the court, fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while implementing effective coaching strategies. This role includes overseeing practices, game planning, and ensuring student-athletes meet academic and behavioral expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coaching & Player Development:
    • Plan and conduct structured practices to develop fundamental basketball skills, strategy, and teamwork.
    • Teach offensive and defensive schemes appropriate for the team's skill level.
    • Provide individualized coaching to enhance player performance and growth.
  • Game Management:
    • Develop game strategies, review film, and make real-time adjustments during competitions.
    • Foster a competitive and positive team culture.
    • Manage substitutions and game-time decisions to maximize team success.
  • Leadership & Mentorship:
    • Serve as a role model by promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and respect.
    • Develop leadership qualities in student-athletes.
    • Address and resolve team conflicts in a constructive manner.
  • Program Development:
    • Organize and lead off-season training, conditioning programs, and summer camps.
    • Develop a pipeline for future athletes by working with youth and middle school programs.
    • Engage with the community to promote school spirit and program support.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Coordinate with athletic directors, school administration, and parents.
    • Ensure all players meet academic eligibility and adhere to school policies.
    • Maintain equipment and ensure proper use of school facilities.
    • Organize transportation, lodging, and logistics for away games.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Previous basketball coaching experience at the high school level or higher preferred.
  • Knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and player development techniques.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop student-athletes both athletically and personally.
  • Understanding of academic eligibility requirements and compliance.
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel for games/tournaments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a player or coach at the collegiate level.
  • Experience with strength and conditioning programs.
  • Ability to drive an activity bus and obtain necessary transportation certifications.
