What is a Director Operational Technology Engineer?

A Director Operational Technology (OT) Engineer is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the integration, management, and security of operational technology systems within an organization. These professionals bridge the gap between IT (Information Technology) and OT systems, ensuring that industrial control systems, manufacturing equipment, and other critical infrastructure operate efficiently and securely. Their role involves developing strategies, leading teams, and implementing best practices to optimize OT environments while safeguarding them from cyber threats. They typically collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Director Operational Technology Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Director Operational Technology Engineer, you need deep expertise in industrial control systems, cybersecurity, and automation, typically supported by an engineering degree and extensive leadership experience. Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLC programming, network security tools, and relevant certifications like CISSP or ISA/IEC 62443 is crucial. Job description

Job Title: Senior Enterprise ERP Systems Architect
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Enterprise ERP Systems Architect to lead the end-to-end design, delivery, and lifecycle management of our core business platforms. This role is the "technical anchor" for our most critical enterprise applications. You will be responsible for ensuring that our functional designs, custom configurations, and third-party integrations are robust, scalable, and aligned with enterprise security and compliance standards.
This is a leadership-level role that balances high-level architecture with hands-on oversight of vendor delivery teams. You will drive the adoption of modern DevSecOps practices within our platform ecosystem, ensuring that every deployment-from configuration to custom code-is tested, secured, and ready for a zero-downtime production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Design & Integration
• Solution Delivery: Oversee the full lifecycle of enterprise platform projects-including design, configuration, integration, and custom development.
• Vendor Orchestration: Act as the primary technical point of contact for third-party implementation partners. Ensure their deliverables (reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements) are traceable, high-quality, and aligned with program requirements.
• Complex Integration: Manage the "plumbing" between core enterprise systems and the broader technology stack, utilizing modern middleware platforms and API-led architectures.
DevSecOps & Quality Governance
• Automated Pipelines: Drive the adoption of CI/CD practices within our enterprise platform. Ensure automated code scanning, unit test coverage, and security analysis are integrated into every release.
• Quality Assurance: Guide the strategy for SIT, UAT, and performance testing. Ensure that all test cases are documented and that quality metrics are visible throughout the development cycle.
• Security & Compliance: Oversee the design of access models, security roles, and compliance frameworks, ensuring they adhere to industry-standard data protection policies.
Program Leadership
• Deployment & Hyper-Care: Manage the transition from project delivery to production (cutover, knowledge transfer, and hyper-care). Ensure operational teams are fully enabled to support the new system.
• Governance: Participate in program-level status reporting, risk management, and the resolution of complex issues that could impact delivery timelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in large-scale enterprise platform delivery (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar ERP environments).
• Integration Mastery: Strong knowledge of middleware platforms, RESTful APIs, and integration-as-a-service architectures.
• DevSecOps Proficiency: Hands-on experience with modern release management-CI/CD, automated testing frameworks, and code quality tools.
• Project Tooling: High proficiency in enterprise-grade project and test management tools (e.g., Jira, qTest, or similar stacks).
• Communication: Ability to facilitate communication across complex, multi-vendor, and cross-functional workstreams.
Preferred Attributes
• Industry-recognized platform certifications (e.g., Associate/Professional levels).
• Experience with large-scale digital transformation programs in highly regulated industries.
• Familiarity with AI-powered enterprise tools or data analytics platforms.
• Experience with master data management and complex enterprise migrations.
