Job description

More Than a Management Role. An Opportunity to Lead, Influence, and Grow.

We're looking for a high-performing Used Vehicle Director who wants ownership of a major profit center and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on dealership performance.

Reliable Chevrolet is searching for an exceptional Used Vehicle Director to lead, grow, and maximize one of the dealership's most important operations.

This is not a role for someone learning the business.

We're looking for a proven leader who already understands how to acquire inventory, maximize turn, manage gross profit, control aging, develop teams, and drive sustainable departmental performance.

If you're currently succeeding as a Used Vehicle Director, Used Car Manager, or high-performing General Sales Manager, and you're looking for greater influence, greater accountability, and greater opportunity, we'd like to have a confidential conversation.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

Reliable Chevrolet is not looking for someone to simply maintain the status quo.

We're investing in the continued growth of our pre-owned operation and seeking a leader who sees opportunity where others see obstacles.

We're looking for someone who understands that:

  • Inventory is won before the sale
  • Speed creates profit
  • Turn matters
  • Accountability matters
  • Details matter

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants the authority to lead, make decisions, and be rewarded for delivering results.

If you've ever felt limited by unnecessary bureaucracy, slow decision-making, or a lack of support, this opportunity deserves your attention.

About Reliable Chevrolet

Reliable Chevrolet is one of Southwest Missouri's most established automotive retailers with a reputation for customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and long-term success.

We are committed to continued growth and believe that outstanding leadership is the key to building a world-class used vehicle operation.

This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on dealership performance while working alongside a leadership team committed to growth, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Own

As Used Vehicle Director, you will have full responsibility for the performance and profitability of the pre-owned vehicle operation, including:

  • Inventory acquisition and sourcing strategy
  • Appraisal processes and trade management
  • Used vehicle sales volume and profitability
  • Inventory aging, turn, and stocking levels
  • Market-based pricing strategy
  • Vehicle merchandising and digital presentation
  • Wholesale strategy and loss mitigation
  • Reconditioning speed, quality, and expense control
  • Digital retailing and online merchandising
  • Used vehicle sales process execution and accountability
  • Team recruitment, coaching, and performance management
  • Collaboration with New Vehicle, Service, F&I, and BDC leadership

This role requires a leader who understands the complete inventory life cycle and can successfully balance acquisition, volume, gross profit, inventory turn, and customer satisfaction.

Who Will Thrive Here

The ideal candidate isn't simply managing inventory.

They're building a business.

You may be an excellent fit if you:

  • Consistently deliver strong used vehicle performance metrics
  • Understand inventory acquisition better than your competitors
  • Make data-driven decisions while maintaining operational discipline
  • Know how to balance volume, turn, and profitability
  • Have experience building and developing successful teams
  • Embrace accountability and expect the same from those around you
  • Want the opportunity to leave your fingerprint on an operation

We're interested in leaders with a proven track record of results, not just experience.

Results matter.

What Success Looks Like

The right inventory.

The right price.

Fast and disciplined reconditioning.

Strong inventory turn.

Healthy front-end gross profit.

Profitable wholesale decisions.

Outstanding customer experiences.

Consistent departmental growth.

We're seeking a leader who approaches the used vehicle operation like a business within a business and understands how every decision impacts profitability, market share, and long-term success.

The Support to Win

Top performers need more than expectations.

They need resources.

At Reliable Chevrolet, you'll have access to:

  • An established and respected dealership brand
  • Strong executive leadership support
  • Modern inventory, CRM, appraisal, and merchandising tools
  • Collaborative partnerships across Sales, Service, F&I, and BDC
  • A dealership committed to operational excellence
  • The flexibility to implement proven strategies and best practices
  • An environment focused on growth, accountability, and results

We're not interested in hiring exceptional talent and then limiting its ability to perform.

Compensation That Reflects Performance

Used Vehicle Directors create tremendous value.

We believe compensation should reflect that.

We offer:

  • Competitive six-figure base salary
  • Aggressive performance-based bonus structure
  • Compensation tied directly to volume, gross profit, inventory turn, and departmental performance
  • Realistic first-year earnings of $200,000-$350,000+
  • Unlimited earning potential for exceptional performers
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • 401(k) and additional benefits

If you're currently earning $150,000-$250,000+ and producing top-tier results, we're prepared to have a serious conversation about a compensation package that reflects your experience, performance, and impact.

The Bottom Line

If you're a proven used vehicle leader who wants more influence, more opportunity, and more upside, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Not everyone is qualified for this role.

But if you're already producing at a high level and believe you can build something exceptional, we'd like to speak with you.

Confidential discussions with qualified candidates will begin immediately, and all inquiries will be handled with complete confidentiality.
