JOB SUMMARY


Location: Rochester, NY | Painted Post, NY | Memphis, TN


Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer


Role Overview: This position is crucial in leading our mechanical, controls, and robot engineering departments in Rochester, Painted Post, Memphis, and remote settings. This position focuses on designing high-quality automation systems and solutions that meet customer deadlines and budgets, while driving revenue growth. Key responsibilities include the development, documentation, and verification of new designs and processes, improvement of existing designs, and management of the automation engineering teams consisting of Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, PLC/HMI programmers, and Robot Engineers.

Effective collaboration with the Project Managers, Supply Chain Manager, and others is crucial to synchronize efforts with the company's goals. The ideal candidate will nurture a collaborative environment centered around teamwork, instilling uniform practices and a cohesive culture across all sites.

Requirements:

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead weekly GEMBA walks, stand-up meetings, and Visual Board discipline across operational departments.
  • Capacity planning and resource allocation management.
  • Manage resource allocation effectively, including aligning work tasks with skillset.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term strategic goals.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to improve project performance, utilization, and productivity
  • Guide a team of engineering managers and technical personnel, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute engineering strategies in alignment with company goals.
  • Plan and manage professional development for the engineering team.
  • Standardize designs and workflows.
  • Promote engineering solutions that balance technical and budgetary requirements.
  • Manage project communications and subcontractor relationships.
  • Drive progress and clear roadblocks.
  • Utilize data analysis tools such as Excel and Power BI to identify trends and drive decisions and improvements.
  • Up to 20% travel required.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, required.
  • Master of Business Administration, preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in managing a large team of engineers in a complex mixed model, design-to-order environment.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with engineered-to-order equipment and systems, including robotics, conveyors, and ASRS systems, preferred.
  • Strong leadership with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity in areas including engineering best practices, automation design, equipment selection, manufacturing, and robot applications.
  • Provide timely feedback and hold employees accountable for achieving results.
  • High degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and organizational skills. A self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and controls software.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the wage range for this role is $150K - $170K. The rate range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Adaptec Solutions considers factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
