Job Summary: 

The Director of UX will be responsible for shaping and driving the overall user experience vision at iHerb. This leader will build and scale a high-performing UX design team, partner with product, CX and cross functional stakeholders, and champion customer-first design across all digital touchpoints. The role requires both strategic vision and hands-on design leadership, with a focus on delivering intuitive, delightful, and accessible experiences for millions of global customers.

Job Expectations:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and drive the long-term UX vision and strategy for iHerb's web and mobile platforms.  

  • Oversee the end-to end user experience on our global website for all platforms (desktop, mobile web and app)

  • Build, mentor, and inspire a team of UX designers, researchers, and design managers.

  • Advocate for design thinking and human-centered design practices across the organization.

  • Help to build a strong design culture within the organization 

  • Get hands-on with projects when necessary to drive projects forward

Collaboration & Execution

  • Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, CX and Marketing to align on goals, priorities, and execution.

  • Translate business objectives into customer-centric design solutions that drive growth and retention.

  • Establish and maintain scalable design systems, ensuring consistency across platforms.

  • Oversee adoption of design software, tools, and workflows to maximize team efficiency and collaboration.

Innovation & Customer Experience

  • Use research, data, and insights to inform design decisions and continuously improve usability.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends, tools, and best practices to evolve iHerb's design capabilities.

  • Champion accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring products are usable by customers worldwide.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

   Required:

  • Experience with A/B testing

  • Strong portfolio showcasing design leadership, strategy, and execution

  • Experience leading a product focused high-performance design team

  • Experience working with product, business stakeholders, and user researchers to drive strategy, vision, and execution

  • Experience managing processes and teams in an agile/scrum environment

  • Experience working with design systems and tools such as Figma

  • A user-centered design approach and highly collaborative, low-ego approach to design

  • Experience attracting, hiring and retaining top design talent

Equipment Knowledge: 

  • Experience with graphic development software (Photoshop, ImageReady, Illustrator etc.)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred

Experience Requirements:

  •  Generally requires a minimum of twelve (12) years of design experience with a focus on eCommerce or related field. Five (5) plus years in a Supervisory role preferred.

Education Requirements: 

Bachelor's Degree in Art, UI/UX Design or related field required, or equivalent work experience

Judgment/Reasoning Ability:  Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy.  Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner.

Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. The Team Member is frequently required to sit, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop and reach with hands and arms.  Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day.  The Team Member may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 25 pounds.  Proper lifting techniques required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment:  The noise in the work environment is usually moderate.  Other factors are:

  • Hectic, fast-paced with multi-level distractions

  • Professional, yet casual work environment

  • Office / Warehouse environment

  • Ability to work extended hours as required
