Come help us design, define, and build the future of human-computer interaction. The AR/VR Design team for one of our large tech clients is working on cutting edge technologies to enable the next generation of immersive experiences and devices. They design, prototype, and research the experiences and interactions that set the direction for emerging products in Augmented and Virtual Reality; products that deliver on a promise to provide our users with lovable, approachable, and truly helpful technology.

As a UX designer for AR/VR experiences, you will be working to envision how existing products will be transformed into immersive spaces that you can interact with in spatial ways. With the broader XR team, you will explore, concept, design, prototype, and build experiences that influence the future of XR.

XR devices are rapidly expanding, with ambitious plans to reach thousands of consumers in the coming months and years. Our team's core mission is to foster the next era of computing innovation, making it accessible and beneficial for everyone.

This commitment necessitates a deep dive into design thinking principles, specifically focusing on accessibility (a11y) to ensure a seamless and empowering experience for all users, regardless of their individual needs or abilities. Our approach involves rigorous user research, iterative design, and close collaboration with accessibility experts to integrate inclusive design principles from the ground up.

In this role you will design interactions specific to the respective products. You will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, product managers, user researchers, and x-product teams to design end‑to‑end experiences that help our users collaborate and be together, whether for work or play.

Job Location: San Jose, San Francisco

Onsite Contract (W9) Opportunity*: through June 30, 2026 with potential to extend further. Not to exceed 40 hours per week.

*Please note that there is no holiday or time off pay with this opportunity. This is a contract, W9 engagement and it will require extensive onboarding, background/education/employment checks, and credentialing.

Responsibilities
  • Solve highly ambiguous and complex design problems that involve VR interactions, collaborative experiences, and immersive environments
  • Drive design spec development and create production‑ready assets
  • Audit current implementation, identify issues and propose solutions
  • Partner with cross‑functional and cross‑product teams to define the UX direction and execute on the aligned vision
  • Collaborate with User Research to plan user studies; be an advocate for the user by understanding the pain points and problems
Qualifications
  • 6 years of experience in product design or UX
  • Effective communicator across different functions with the ability to listen to different perspectives, articulate positions, and advocate for designs
  • Experience in collaborating with Engineering to craft specs and ensure quality
  • Experience in collaborating with User Research to craft usability studies
  • Demonstrated ability to take design concepts from drawing board to shipped products and/or features
  • Experience scoping and solving highly ambiguous design problems that involve screen, physical, and spatial interactions

It’s a plus if:

  • Experience with designing immersive experiences
  • Experience designing for 3D/AR/VR
