Job description

Job Description Summary
Pandi, LLC is an SEC-registered investment adviser ("RIA") and multi-family office based in Kansas City. We provide portfolio management and investment advisory services for families, individuals, trusts, and institutions, including private foundations and private companies owned by our family clients.
Our advisory services primarily consist of: (a) defining overall investment strategy, (b) setting strategic asset allocation targets, (c) selecting, underwriting, and monitoring specific investments, and (d) ensuring our clients have a holistic view of performance for their investment portfolios. We also provide financial consulting and other related family office services to our clients.
Job Description
The Director of Technology shall define and lead the execution of the technology strategy, cybersecurity posture, and technology operations for Pandi with a focus on leveraging artificial intelligence to automate workflows across investment operations, compliance, reporting, and client service.
This role ensures that information technology systems, infrastructure, and data platforms effectively support business objectives while meeting the operational, security, and regulatory requirements of an SEC-regulated investment firm as well as the needs of its clients' technology environments. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight of the technology team. In addition to core infrastructure, network, and security responsibilities, the Director will lead the evaluation, governance, and controlled implementation of emerging technologies, including building internal applications and workflows that leverage existing artificial intelligence ("AI") platforms, while ensuring their use aligns with confidentiality obligations, compliance expectations, and risk tolerance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define and execute an organization-wide technology, cybersecurity, data resiliency, and AI strategy that delivers cost-effective, best-in-class services, including governance and risk oversight across Pandi and multiple client entities, including the Patterson Family Foundation and First Hand Foundation.
  • Serve as a hands-on technology leader by implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting systems directly while managing, mentoring, and developing the technology team.
  • Establish and oversee a secure, scalable technology environment leveraging modern cloud productivity, identity, networking, and security platforms to support collaboration, access management, and secure operations in a regulated environment.
  • Oversee the security of systems, networks, applications, and enterprise data in a cloud-first environment, applying zero-trust architecture and the principle of least privilege across identity, network, and application layers.
  • Prepare, maintain, and manage annual technology financial plans, including forecasting and cost optimization as well as contract management for technology systems.
  • Provide regular reporting to Pandi leadership and clients on technology projects, initiatives, security posture, and risks.
  • Build and maintain data infrastructure-pipelines, warehouses, APIs-that enables advanced analytics and AI integration.
  • Architect and implement AI-powered workflow automation across core business functions including investment research, portfolio monitoring, compliance reporting, and client communications; stay current on AI developments and proactively identify automation opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans, ensuring operational resilience and documented recovery procedures.
  • Ensure data classification, protection, retention, auditability, and lifecycle management of all enterprise content, including collaboration platforms and AI-enabled systems.
  • Facilitate and support information technology security audits, reviews, investigations, and ongoing monitoring, leveraging centralized enterprise logging and visibility solutions (e.g., SIEM platforms); continuously improve change management, approval, and documentation processes to ensure controlled, auditable technology changes.
  • In partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), maintain acceptable use standards, data handling requirements, and access controls for effective monitoring and oversight of AI usage; ensure IT operations meet SEC regulatory requirements for registered investment advisers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external information technology vendors and service providers and conduct vendor due diligence and ongoing technology risk assessments.
  • Promote a culture of thorough documentation, security awareness, accountability, and control discipline; lead effective end-user education and timely security awareness training reinforcing secure behaviors and responsible use of technology and AI tools.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field; master's level degree preferred but not required.
  • Seven (7) or more years of information technology experience with at least five (5) years managing a technology or technical team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work hands-on: writing code, configuring systems, and solving problems directly.
  • Experience implementing AI/ML solutions, workflow automation, or data engineering in a business context.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, security architecture, and modern enterprise technology platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred - any relevant certifications.
  • Preferred - experience supporting SEC-regulated or highly controlled environments (investment advisors, broker-dealers, financial services, etc.).
  • Preferred - familiarity with investment management and accounting technology platforms (portfolio management, market data providers, custodian integrations, etc.).
