Vancouver Specialty and Rehabilitative Care is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our clinical team in delivering exceptional care to our residents. The Director of Nursing is responsible for overseeing all nursing operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting quality outcomes, and fostering a positive and supportive work environment.

Position Summary

The Director of Nursing provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services within the facility. This role oversees clinical staff, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, drives quality improvement initiatives, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to achieve outstanding resident outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct, supervise, and evaluate all nursing services and personnel

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and CMS regulations

  • Lead and support quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives

  • Monitor clinical outcomes, infection prevention practices, incident trends, and quality metrics

  • Collaborate with the Administrator, Medical Director, and interdisciplinary team to develop and implement clinical programs and goals

  • Oversee staffing plans, scheduling strategies, recruitment, retention, and employee engagement initiatives

  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, disciplinary actions, and staff development activities

  • Ensure proper documentation and accurate completion of clinical records

  • Participate in survey preparation and lead the facility's response to state, federal, and other regulatory surveys

  • Manage nursing department budgets, supply utilization, and labor resources effectively

  • Oversee staff education, competencies, and ongoing training programs

  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement

  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide leadership support during emergencies as needed

Qualifications
  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Washington

  • Minimum of three years of nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting

  • Previous experience as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing preferred

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations, including CMS guidelines

  • Demonstrated experience with survey management and regulatory compliance

  • Knowledge of infection prevention, quality improvement, and risk management principles

  • Experience with electronic health records and long-term care software systems

  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to build strong relationships with residents, families, staff, physicians, and community partners

Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN preferred; MSN strongly preferred

  • Certification in long-term care nursing or healthcare administration preferred

  • Experience with PointClickCare or similar electronic health record systems

  • Proven track record of improving quality measures, reducing turnover, and achieving successful survey outcomes
