RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Nursing (DON) will plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of our Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. As the clinical leader, you will ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times, with a strong focus on NYS DOH compliance, workforce retention, and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Administrative Leadership: Provide strategic direction and daily oversight to the nursing department, including ADONs, Nurse Managers, RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain full compliance with CMS regulations and NYS 10 NYCRR Part 415 codes. Ensure continuous readiness for all unannounced NYS DOH standard and infection control surveys.
Staffing Mandates: Monitor, manage, and optimize daily schedules to strictly adhere to New York State's minimum 3.5 Hours Per Resident Day (HPRD) requirements.
Quality Assurance (QAPI): Lead the facility's QAPI committee to audit clinical data, implement performance improvement plans, and minimize adverse events (falls, pressure ulcers, medication errors).
Incident Reporting: Manage the investigation and mandatory electronic reporting of incidents or allegations of abuse to the NYS DOH via the Health Commerce System (HCS).
MDS Coordination: Partner with the MDS team to ensure accurate documentation and assessment data for optimal Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement.
Financial Management: Develop and oversee the annual nursing operational budget, managing labor costs and clinical supply utilization effectively.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program
• Current Registered Nurse in State of New York
• Current BCLS certification
