Job description

Response Labs is seeking a results-obsessed Director of Business Development with a 5-10 year track record in high-growth digital/marketing agency sales to own the pipeline and directly drive net-new revenue, reporting to the CEO.
The Mandate: Immediate, Measurable Growth

Response Labs is lean, agile, and poised for a headcount scale driven entirely by performance. This is a pure execution role where your success is measured by the size and speed of your pipeline conversion. You will be a driving force responsible for new business acquisition, working closely with the CEO to identify and land strategic enterprise accounts that align with our core expertise in CRM, Loyalty, and Performance Marketing. We need a challenger who can immediately tap into their existing network and build a predictable, repeatable sales machine.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Outcomes

  • Achieve year-one goal of 8 new Logos with average ACV of $250K+.
  • Maintain a minimum of 20 active conversations/month within target C-suite/VP-level prospects.
  • Manage the sales tech stack operations process (CRM, prospecting tools, etc).

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead Generation: Proactively source, prospect, and qualify leads via personalized outreach, networking, and leveraging existing relationships-this is a hunter role.
  • Pitch Participation: Participate in the pitch process from initial contact to contract negotiation, working with the CEO and Leadership Team to craft bespoke proposals.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and nurture a personal network within the target market to generate high-quality referrals and inbound opportunities.
  • Process Optimization: Own and meticulously track all sales activities within the existing Salesforce ecosystem, providing reliable forecasting to the Leadership Team.
  • Market Presence: Commit to significant travel (25-40%) to attend industry events and conduct on-site client meetings, representing the Response Labs brand.

Non-Negotiable Qualifications

  • Experience: 5-10 years of demonstrable success in a new business sales role within a digital, performance marketing, or advertising agency.
  • Industry Expertise: Expert understanding of the agency service model and ability to articulate value propositions for CRM, Loyalty, Paid Media and complex digital performance campaigns.
  • Track Record: Proven ability to close net-new business in the $250k+ range. Must provide verifiable metrics of quota attainment.
  • Mindset: Highly accountable, self-starter, intrinsically motivated to secure wins, and comfortable operating with no bureaucracy.
  • Skills: Exceptional command of sales sequencing and prospecting tools (e.g., Outreach, Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, etc.).

About Response Labs: Your Next Platform for Growth

Response Labs is not a traditional agency. We are an elite, performance-first execution partner for multi-unit brands and enterprises, specializing in connecting customer data (CRM) to measurable results (Loyalty and Performance Marketing). Founded by agency pros and strategists, we exist to solve the complexity inherent in high-volume, low-margin transactions-the exact challenge faced by the food and restaurant industry.

We are lean, profitable, and focused purely on measurable client outcomes. Our DNA is rooted in data-driven loyalty programs, sophisticated marketing automation, and media execution that drives customer Lifetime Value (LTV), not vanity metrics.

What Defines Our Culture?

  • Execution First: We value deliverables and measurable results over internal politics or lengthy processes. We are an engine, not a holding company.
  • CEO-Level Access: As a Director, you will work directly with the Co-founder/CEO to set and execute the revenue strategy. Bureaucracy is minimal; impact is immediate.
  • Industry Focus: We thrive in complexity, particularly integrating MarTech, POS and BI systems for multi-unit/franchise environments. This focus allows us to provide specialized expertise that generalist agencies cannot match.

If you are a high-performing BD leader who views sales as strategic consulting, and you are ready to apply your deep industry knowledge to accelerate a high-growth, focused agency, Response Labs offers the platform and the incentives to make your next professional leap.

What We Offer: High-Performance Rewards

We are structured to reward measurable, high-impact growth. If you are an exceptional closer with a portable network, your earning potential here is designed to significantly exceed the industry standard.

  • Exceptional On-Target Earnings (OTE): We offer a highly competitive base salary, designed to meet the market, complemented by a highly aggressive, uncapped commission structure. We recognize that high-value sales require high-value incentives.
  • Direct CEO Partnership: You will bypass layers of management and work directly with Co-founder/CEO Dan Dawes and the Partners, providing you with direct influence over company strategy and resource allocation for business development.
  • Equity/Profit Share Potential: Based on verifiable, sustained performance, this role has a clear pathway to executive-level profit-sharing or equity participation as we scale the agency based on your growth.
  • Best-in-Class Tools: Access to premium sales enablement tools (e.g., Salesforce ecosystem, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, high-level CRM access) and a dedicated Team of subject matter experts to support our pitches and technical scoping in complex multi-unit verticals.
  • Flexibility & Autonomy: High autonomy regarding work location and travel schedule, provided you are delivering against your pipeline goals. Onboarding will occur in Baltimore. Travel is necessary to secure key industry relationships (e.g., MURTEC, NRF, QSR/FSR, etc.)

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary plus uncapped aggressive commission structure
  • BlueCross health with dental/vision insurance with employer contribution
  • AFLAC short term disability available
  • 401k plan with matching
  • Charitable donation matching
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Quarterly performance award drawings
  • Paid vacation and sick time
  • Paid federal holidays
  • Monthly wellness benefit
  • BYOD stipend
  • Professional training and certification tracks
  • Flex time from day-one & work from home options
