Job description

Director of IT

Remote (U.S.) | Full-time

We are a prominent third-party logistics (3PL) company focused on warehousing, fulfillment, and final-mile delivery. Technology is becoming a bigger competitive advantage for us — especially client integrations, warehouse systems, automation, and data visibility. We are hiring a Director of IT to own our technology strategy and execution without the overhead of a full C-suite CIO role.

What you’ll own

• Technology roadmap and prioritization aligned with operations and customer needs.

• Systems architecture, integrations (APIs, EDI, client portals), and data flow across WMS, TMS, billing, and other platforms.

• Vendor selection, contract management, and performance of technology partners.

• Cybersecurity posture, access controls, and basic compliance requirements.

• IT budget planning and ROI tracking.

• Day-to-day leadership of internal IT resources and external developers/contractors.

• Clear communication with the executive team on technology status, risks, and opportunities.

What we’re looking for

• 8–12+ years in IT with progressive leadership experience (Director, Senior Manager, or equivalent).

• Proven ability to lead technology and integration work in a mid-size operational company (logistics, supply chain, distribution, or manufacturing preferred).

• Strong technical foundation — comfortable with systems architecture, integrations, cloud platforms, and reviewing technical work.

• Experience managing both internal staff and external development partners.

• Practical, business-oriented mindset (you care more about results and reliability than perfect architecture diagrams).

• Ability to operate effectively in a lean environment and wear multiple hats when needed.

What this role is not

• A pure hands-on developer or systems administrator.

• A full CIO/CTO focused primarily on board-level strategy or large enterprise transformation.

Location & compensation

• Fully remote (U.S. based).

• Competitive base salary in the $135k–$175k range, plus bonus opportunity, benefits, and the chance to shape technology at a growing logistics company.

If you have led technology and integrations in an operational environment and want ownership without unnecessary corporate layers, we’d like to hear from you.
