Job description

Job Title: Director of Tax

Location: Santa Ana, CA

Compensation: $180,000 - $230,000 / Annually + 25%-30% target bonus plus equity

The Director of Corporate Tax leads the company’s tax strategy, compliance, reporting, and risk management activities across U.S. federal, state, and local jurisdictions. This position delivers strategic leadership across income tax, indirect tax, and related areas, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations while proactively enhancing and protecting the organization’s overall tax position.


Responsibilities:

· Oversee preparation and review of U.S. federal, state, local, and Canadian income tax filings.

· Ensure accurate and timely quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with GAAP (ASC 740).

· Manage indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, property tax, GST, and other transactional taxes

· Develop and execute corporate tax strategies aligned with business objectives while ensuring full regulatory compliance.

· Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimize the effective tax rate within appropriate risk parameters.

· Assess tax implications of acquisitions, cross-border transactions, restructurings, and new business initiatives.

· Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and evaluate organizational impact.

· Lead tax audits and examinations, partnering with external auditors and advisors as needed.

· Maintain strong documentation, transfer pricing support, and internal controls to ensure audit readiness.

· Lead, mentor, and develop tax team members, promoting technical excellence and continuous growth.

· Advise senior finance leadership on tax strategy, risk, and compliance matters.


Qualifications

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s in Taxation preferred

· CPA required

· 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, including leadership experience within a large, multi-state or multinational organization and/or public accounting firm

· Strong knowledge of US federal, state and Canadian income tax, ASC 740 tax provision requirements, and indirect tax considerations


Compensation

· $180,000 - $230,000/year plus 25%-30% target bonus plus equity
