Job description

The Role
We're looking for a Director of Engineering to serve as the primary technical leader for PRPL's internal operations and client project oversight. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role - the connective tissue between our creative and engineering teams, our internal IT infrastructure, and the technical direction of client engagements.
You'll oversee day-to-day IT operations, manage a small internal IT/dev team, and serve as a trusted technical advisor on client projects. You'll also play a key planning and oversight role as PRPL continues to evolve how it delivers work, incorporating AI tooling, modern web technologies, and scalable processes across our organization.
What You'll Own
Internal IT & Infrastructure
  • Own PRPL's internal technology stack - tools, licenses, systems, security, and vendor relationships
  • Manage and mentor a small internal IT/development team
  • Ensure reliability, security, and scalability of internal systems across the organization
  • Evaluate and implement new tools and platforms that improve team efficiency and reduce friction
  • Maintain IT documentation, access controls, and compliance practices

Client-Facing Technical Oversight
  • Serve as a technical advisor and sanity check on client project scopes, architectures, and timelines
  • Participate in discovery, estimation, and planning for technical engagements - translating client needs into sound technical approaches
  • Review technical deliverables and provide oversight to ensure quality and consistency across projects./li>
  • Act as a bridge between PRPL's account and creative teams and the technical realities of execution
  • Occasional direct client communication on technical matters

What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure and internal systems (network, SaaS, endpoints, security)
  • Demonstrated experience in a client-facing technical role - agency, consulting, or similar environment strongly preferred
  • Comfortable leading and developing a small team
  • Fluency across a mixed technology stack - WordPress, custom web applications, and modern frontend frameworks
  • Strong communication skills; able to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Based in or able to commute to Orlando, FL up to 3 days/week

Strong Pluses
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI tooling - LLMs, AI-assisted development, or AI-driven workflow automation
  • Experience working in a digital or creative agency environment
  • Comfort with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern DevOps practices
  • Background in web development (React, Next.js, or similar)
