What does a director of dance do?

A Director of Dance oversees the artistic and administrative aspects of a dance program, company, or school. Their responsibilities typically include developing choreography, managing instructors and dancers, planning performances, and setting the vision for the organization’s artistic direction. They also often coordinate rehearsals, auditions, and outreach programs, while ensuring the quality and consistency of dance instruction and productions. The role may involve budgeting, fundraising, and community engagement to support the program's growth and success.
