Hydro Aluminium Metal is a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods, and high-purity aluminium, with a global production network of around 6,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminium production is based on renewable energy.

Job Summary

To support the continued growth of the aluminium remelting business, the Director of Commercial Operations is responsible for driving customer acquisition, revenue growth, and commercial execution excellence. The role focuses on optimizing end-to-end commercial operations across sales support, customer service, logistics, imports, and offtake activities, while ensuring strong coordination with internal stakeholders and external partners. The position plays a key leadership role in standardizing processes, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring compliant and reliable flows of material and information across the value chain.

Pay Range: $145,000 - $165,000

What you will be doing
  • Drive operational excellence within the Sales and Marketing organisation by defining, implementing, and continuously improving standardised commercial processes.
  • Act as a key business partner to Sales and Marketing leadership to streamline, simplify, and automate customer and partner interactions.
  • Lead, develop, and supervise the Customer Service and Logistics teams, ensuring high service levels and strong execution discipline.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, supporting long-term partnerships and growth initiatives.
  • Support new business development by ensuring robust commercial onboarding, operational readiness, and service execution for new customers and products.
  • Manage and administer marketing and offtake agreements, ensuring accurate execution of contractual terms related to volumes, pricing mechanisms (including LME-linked pricing), delivery conditions, and settlement.
  • Oversee third-party imports of aluminium and related raw materials, ensuring cost-efficient, timely, and compliant execution.
  • Manage relationships with customs brokers and logistics service providers, ensuring adherence to customs regulations, import documentation requirements, and internal compliance standards.
What will make you successful?

Required Education/Experience

  • BA / BS degree or equivalent with a minimum 5 years' experience in similar position
  • Solid understanding of aluminium markets, LME pricing mechanisms, and hedging practices.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational improvements and process standardisation in commercial organisations.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong execution mindset with the ability to translate strategy into disciplined operational delivery.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience within aluminium remelting, metals processing, or related industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to import/export operations, customs management, and third-party sourcing or offtake agreements.
  • Experience in Supervising a Customer Service and Logistics Departments
