Clinical Quality & Resident Careย 

  • Provides overall leadership and oversight ofย the nursing departmentย to ensure high-quality resident careย ย 
  • Accountable for clinical outcomes, including prevention and management of falls, pressure injuries, infections, and hospitalย readmissionsย ย 
  • Ensures physicians and clinical providers conduct visits asย requiredย and that care is deliveredย in accordance withย resident needsย ย 
  • Conducts regular rounds toย monitorย resident care, staff performance, and overall environment of careย ย 
  • Oversees documentation practices to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance of resident recordsย ย 
  • May provide direct care as neededย 


Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readinessย 

  • Maintains continuous survey readiness and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsย ย 
  • Leads survey preparation,ย participatesย in surveys, and oversees implementation of plans of correctionย ย 
  • Oversees incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up actionsย in accordance withย regulatory requirementsย ย 
  • Ensures compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and the compliance programย ย 


Quality Improvement & Infection Controlย 

  • Leads QAPI and performance improvement initiativesย for the nursing departmentย utilizingย data, metrics, and trends to drive decision-making and improve outcomesย ย 
  • Oversees infection prevention and control programs to ensure compliance and minimize risk. May be the center Infection Preventionist.ย 


Workforce Leadership & Developmentย 

  • Develops, leads, andย retainsย a high-performing nursing team through effective hiring, coaching, and performance managementย ย 
  • Oversees staffing and scheduling to ensureย appropriate coverageย while managing labor costs, overtime, and agencyย utilizationย ย 
  • Ensures orientation, onboarding, ongoing training, and competency development of nursing personnelย ย 
  • Ensures maintenance of licensure and certification requirements for all nursing personnel, including CPR certification for all licensed nursing personnelย 
  • Ensures fair and consistent application of disciplinary processes and performance evaluationsย ย 


Operations & Financial Managementย 

  • Ensures necessary equipment, supplies, and staffing levels are available to support quality care deliveryย ย 
  • Participates in budget development for the nursing department, medical,ย nursingย and central supplies.ย 
  • Manages nursing department operations within budget, including labor and supply expensesย ย 


Leadership, Collaboration & Cultureย 

  • Partners with theย Executive Directorย and interdisciplinary team to drive clinical, operational, and financial performanceย ย 
  • Acts in anย administrativeย capacity in the absence of the Executive Directorย 
  • Collaboratesย with internal and external partners to improve quality of care and operational outcomesย ย

Work Environment/Physical Requirementsย

Required Qualificationsย 

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with active, unrestricted license in the stateย 
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing programย 
  • Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and clinical practicesย 
  • Current CPR certificationย

  • Prior experience as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursingย
