Job Summary
The Director of Operations is accountable for the overall success of operational processes and performance. This role is responsible for building and executing a sustainable operations program and advisor experience. This role will oversee the day-to-day activities of the back and middle office including Financial Advisor onboarding, systems administration, billing/commissions, money desk, and vendor management of outsourced services/systems.
In addition, this role will Lead firm's trade supervision efforts ensuring timely and efficient review process and adherence to the applicable compliance policies and standards, laws and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Create, monitor, and report performance metrics ensuring company goals and standards are met by monitoring progress regularly.
  • Partner with department leaders, third-party vendors, financial professionals, to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals
  • Lead back and middle office operations including implementing policies, procedures, controls; overseeing day-to-day operations; and ensuring systems/processes are meeting the business needs of the Financial Advisors.
  • Lead Advisor onboarding initiatives including adding Financial Advisors, moving client accounts including history, reconciling data and training. Coordinate and communicate activities and status to appropriate leadership.
  • Create and supervise systems administration of the Financial Advisor systems platform including full life cycle from prospect to client. Build a hybrid model of insourced and outsourced services including user onboarding, user support, client account migration and support, data reconciliation, systems support and client reporting.
  • Oversee change management and work process design/improvement efforts and system enhancements. Look to constantly improve business processes through automation and process redesign. Be the thought-leader and advocate for innovation to transform the way BIFS supports and interacts with business partners.
  • Develop both short- and long-term strategies, aligned with company objectives, to achieve department and company goals.
  • Work closely with team members, as well as advisors, product distributors, heads of distribution, and company executives. Participate in high-priority or sensitive case management escalations.
  • Create, implement, and oversee training, product training, and onboarding programs.

Primary Skills & Requirements:
  • Experience in Life and Annuity insurance industry
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University plus 6-8 years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Series 6 or 7 and 65 or 66 Required
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex, detailed and sensitive information
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Prior management, Registered Investment Advisor and Broker Dealer experience required. Life Insurance and Annuity experience required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics preferred
  • Travel up to 25%
