Job description

Position Overview

The Automation Engineer 3, DSM Upstream, will provide support to the Drug Substance Manufacturing (DSM) facility using DeltaV. This includes implementing changes to the Automation systems, updating design documents, executing tests, troubleshooting events, and providing automation on-call support. This role focuses on supporting the delivery of DeltaV logic for Upstream process areas, including Inoculum Lab, Media Preparation, Seed Culture, Large Scale Bioreactors, and Harvest.

What You'll Do
  • Perform Automation activities, such as code configuration, document development, and test execution using DeltaV
  • Delivers accurate and on-time Automation work
  • Creates standard code utilizing simple control strategies
  • Assists with developing (generating, reviewing, maintaining) various specification documents (e.g., user requirements specification (URS), functional specification (FS), design qualification (DQ), etc.)
  • Assists with developing (generating, reviewing, maintaining) various test protocols and functional testing documents (e.g., installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ), etc.)
  • Assists with developing various test protocols and executes functional testing for documents (e.g.,
  • Serves as on-call support for Automation inquiries and troubleshooting
  • Collaborates with other departments, such as Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Validation

Knowledge and Skills

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field
  • 5 years of Automation, Instrumentation & Controls, or other relevant technical experience
  • DeltaV automation experience is required
  • Preferred: 6+ year of Automation experience
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to discern audible cues.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time 30 minutes
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time 240 minutes
  • Ability to conduct activities using repetitive motions that include wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to conduct work that includes moving objects up to 33 pounds.
