Director of Mental Health Services Responsibilities: (Essential Functions)

  • Oversight to ensure the facility is adhering to MN State Statutes, code of ethics, insurance requirements, policy and procedure.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all MN Statutes related to providing services for the population NBHN serves
  • Direct Supervisor for mental health professionals and trainees.
  • Leads peer review internal audits of all clinical files on a quarterly basis at a minimum.
  • Implement new policies and procedures as needed.
  • Manage NMHS budget.
  • Facilitate effective communication with multidisciplinary staff at all sites.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a system of diagnostic, treatment, and consultative mental health services
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining ethics of standard practice
  • Collaborates with Northstar staff in multidisciplinary reviews of diagnostic work, treatment planning, service utilization, and program resources
  • Participates in strategic planning and problem solving activities with Northstar leadership team
  • Develop and participate in staff trainings supporting co-occurring requirements as well as staff trainings on a quarterly, bi-annual, and as needed basis
  • Create programming and documentation guidance for mental health staff.
  • Coordinate staff availability to provide services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Paid Holidays (9 Total): New Year’s Day (January 1), Memorial Day (last Monday in May), Juneteenth (June 19), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (first Monday in September), Thanksgiving Day (fourth Thursday in November), Christmas Day (December 25), plus two floating holidays.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): PTO is earned on an accrual basis at 5.85 hours per biweekly pay period, up to 152 hours per year, based on a 40-hour workweek.


Requirements:

Director of Mental Health Services Required Skills and Experience: (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities)

  • Must be licensed by the appropriate state board for at least one of the following licenses: LP, LICSW, LMFT, and/or LPCC.
  • Must be designated by the appropriate state board as a board approved supervisor for mental health license.
  • Minimum requirement of a masters degree.
  • Must have four or more years providing mental health services.
  • CPR Certification or attainment within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have two years of freedom from chemical use problems.
  • Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check.
  • Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office programs and other computer skills.
