The Impact You Will Have in This Role
As Director, Network Operations Engineering, you will lead the strategy, architecture, and operational excellence of enterprise network services that support critical business operations and client connectivity. You will be accountable for building resilient, secure, scalable, and cloud-ready network platforms across campus, data center, colocation, hybrid, and cloud environments.
In this role, you will drive a cloud-first, automation-led network strategy, improve operational reliability and recovery, and strengthen governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) maturity. You will lead and grow a high-performing team of network engineers while partnering closely with product, infrastructure, security, audit, and risk teams to ensure network services meet business, client, and regulatory expectations.
This role reports directly to Network Operations leadership.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
Network Architecture & Strategy
  • Define and lead the design and implementation of complex enterprise network architectures, including LAN, WAN, data center, SD-WAN, and hybrid cloud environments
  • Develop and execute network strategies and multi-year roadmaps aligned with business objectives and industry best practices
  • Establish enterprise standards for network design, client connectivity, resiliency, and security
  • Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend solutions that improve performance, scalability, reliability, and security

Network Operations, Reliability & Performance
  • Own enterprise-level network operations, ensuring availability, capacity, performance, and security across on-prem and cloud environments
  • Oversee the operation of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless infrastructure, and cloud networking services
  • Lead the response to complex network incidents, including root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Reduce operational risk by improving testing practices, recovery planning, and standardization of connectivity models
  • Monitor network performance, utilization, and capacity; sponsor optimization initiatives such as traffic engineering and QoS

Cloud, Automation & Modernization
  • Lead execution of the cloud and hybrid network strategy, including hybrid connectivity, cloud networking patterns, and cost-optimization initiatives
  • Drive adoption of network automation and Infrastructure as Code, leveraging tools such as Ansible, Python, and SDN technologies
  • Ensure network provisioning, configuration management, and change execution are automated to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors
  • Establish cloud-specific operational models, including monitoring, incident management, and financial governance

Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)
  • Own network-related governance, risk, and compliance responsibilities
  • Standardize network documentation, controls, and audit evidence
  • Track audit findings, remediation actions, and control effectiveness through structured governance forums
  • Partner with security, risk, and audit teams to ensure ongoing regulatory readiness

Leadership, Delivery & Vendor Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of network operations and engineering professionals, with planned growth as demand increases
  • Set priorities, performance goals, and accountability across the organization
  • Lead network-related programs and initiatives, including upgrades, migrations, and technology refreshes
  • Define project scope, timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure delivery on schedule and within constraints
  • Evaluate network vendors, support contract negotiations, and manage strategic vendor relationships
  • Ensure high-quality network documentation, diagrams, procedures, and knowledge sharing
  • Communicate network risks, initiatives, and incidents effectively to senior leadership, including executive-ready presentations (PowerPoint, Visio)

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering, operations, or infrastructure leadership roles within large, global enterprises
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical teams
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience supporting regulated or highly audited environments

Talents Needed for Success
  • Deep expertise in enterprise network architecture and operations
  • Expert-level knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including:
    • TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS
    • VLAN, STP
    • Network security protocols (IPsec, SSL/TLS)
  • Strong experience with data center, hybrid, and cloud networking
  • Extensive experience with enterprise network devices and vendors
  • In-depth understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control
  • Proven ability to lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and operational improvement programs
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Demonstrated experience driving organizational process improvement and change

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with Infoblox, Guardicore, or similar network/IPAM/security platforms
  • Prior ownership of client connectivity platforms or services
  • Experience building centralized network topology or observability repositories
  • Advanced network certifications (CCIE, JNCIE)

The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
