Job description

Overview Security is one of the most critical priorities for our customers as they navigate an increasingly complex threat landscape, heightened regulatory requirements, and hybrid and air-gapped environments. Microsoft Specialized Clouds Security (MSC Security) delivers trusted, mission-critical security solutions for customers with the most demanding and regulated needs. We are seeking a Principal Product Manager to help lead and scale our Defender product suite support across Specialized Clouds. This role is accountable for setting product direction, driving execution across the Defender portfolio, and ensuring secure, compliant, and consistent customer experiences in highly regulated cloud environments. You will operate at a strategic level-aligning product priorities to Microsoft's security vision-while also staying close to delivery and customer impact. This is a senior individual contributor role. We are looking for a technical product leader who sets a high bar for product excellence and drives outcomes through deep expertise, strong product judgment, and influence across teams. You will operate as a hands-on principal-shaping strategy, making critical product decisions, and elevating the craft of those around you-without direct people-management responsibilities.You will partner closely with engineering, compliance, field, and customer teams to prioritize secure-by-design capabilities, manage risk, and accelerate adoption of the Defender product suite across Specialized Clouds. Success in this role requires strong product judgment, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and a proven track record of delivering high-impact results in complex, highly regulated environments. Responsibilities * Set direction and drive execution across multiple Defender product areas in Specialized Clouds, ensuring focus on the highest impact gaps and opportunities to strengthen customer security posture and compliance outcomes.
* Provide product thought leadership and mentorship across the broader PM community-sharing best practices, coaching peers, and elevating product craft-while modeling Microsoft's values of accountability, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
* Own portfolio level strategy and governance, partnering with engineering, architecture, and security stakeholders to validate technical approaches, manage risk, and ensure solutions meet regulatory, compliance, and customer requirements.
* Drive alignment and delivery across complex, cross functional initiatives, unblocking teams, resolving tradeoffs, and ensuring secure by design capabilities are delivered predictably and at scale.
* Represent product strategy and execution at the leadership level, clearly articulating direction, progress, and risk to internal stakeholders and customers to build trust and accelerate adoption of the Defender product suite.
* Contribute to a culture of excellence and care, raising the bar on security outcomes while helping create an environment where people feel supported, challenged, and empowered to do their best work. Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: * Candidates must have an active TS and be willing and eligible to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing and eligible to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with polygraph) clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required pre-offer and post-hire for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
* Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
* Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
* Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance
Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
* 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
* 6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
* 6+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
* Experience with Microsoft Azure Security products to include (Defender, Endpoint, Intune, Sentinel) Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
