Job description

The Director of Merchandising is responsible for leading and executing the national strategy for RBDC's merchandising program. This role promotes partner satisfaction and ensures the organization remains focused on delivering merchandising excellence and exceeding partner expectations.
This national position oversees the onboarding and training of all Merchandisers. As a member of the Distribution Services leadership team, the Director provides leadership, support, advocacy, and strategic vision to all Merchandising Managers for all merchandising activities across all RBDC regions.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES
    Leverage sales data, market trends, and consumer insights to evaluate, analyze, define, and recommend merchandising structures, metrics, budgets, and resource plans that enable performance excellence.
    Develop process improvements within the merchandising organization to ensure high-quality standards and implementation of best practices.
    Develop and define all merchandising KPI priorities, strategies, and goals for the National Reset Merchandising Manager, Merchandiser Manager, and Merchandising Lead roles.
    Collaborate with and influence the Field Leadership team (VPSD, DSD, GSM) on all merchandising initiatives. Provide regular presentations for Monthly Performance Reviews (MPR), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), and other ad hoc reports for the leadership team.
    Align with RBNA on guidelines and long-term strategies, and influence decision-making across the organization.
    Lead merchandising headcount and workforce planning, and evaluate resourcing requests across RBDC.
    Oversee the development and enhancement of the Merchandisers' tools (e.g., routing, surveys, mileage tracking).
    Lead, develop, implement, and sustain training programs for the Merchandising team.
    Lead and develop the RBDC onboarding program for Merchandisers.
    Assess overall merchandising culture and engagement within profit centers and collaborate with leaders to create action plans, address issues, and respond to emerging trends.
    Partner with external organizations to research and implement new capabilities.

EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
that matter most for this role:
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of CPG field sales merchandising experience with a record of proven results
  • Experience leading and developing training and onboarding programs is a significant asset
  • Advanced proficiency in sales merchandising, business development, and retail operations
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly competent in implementing and executing strategic plans
  • Strong proficiency in using analytical methods to test merchandising hypotheses and measure program effectiveness
  • Experience in workforce planning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare presentation materials and present information to field employees and leadership audiences
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Understanding of computer ordering systems and other IT systems
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Must regularly lift, move, and place up to 25 pounds of inventory and/or advertising materials.
  • Must regularly operate a motor vehicle weighing more than 10,000 pounds.
  • Is responsible for overall safety and the safe operation of the motor vehicle.
  • Must comply with all DOT physical and safety requirements.
  • Travel 40-50%
