This is a chance to lead, launch, and scale a new market with the support of an established firm that already has strong traction in other regions.
Ideal candidate:
  • "Deep Roots" in the Triangle Area
  • 10-15 years of experience in the A/E/C space or economic development
  • Licensed PE with known understanding of the Triangle permitting process (Preferred)
  • Board level involvement with key organizations 
  • Developer + design firm relationships with decision makers 
  • Have a reputation for expertise in the following markets
    • Primary: housing + industrial
    • Secondary: higher education, healthcare, retail

Summary
Create a vision and executable plan for growth. Builds market position and revenue generation by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships. This includes assessing market and growth opportunities, gathering intelligence on potential clients and competitors, generating leads, following up and coordinating sales and client development activities.
Business Development
  • Partners with manager to develop focus area specific growth plan including goals and metrics
  • Develops and manages Client Capture Plans for agreed upon targets + focus areas
  • Works successfully to cultivate new business relationships and expands current relationships into successful revenue generating opportunities
  • Stays well-informed of critical issues in their “focus area” including but not limited to market outlook, external issues, specific focus area expectations.
  • Effectively performs business development tasks per client growth plans, updating and maintenance of information in CRM systems
  • Drive “new” sales consistent with Client Capture Plans established during annual planning
  • Provides thought leadership consistent with efforts required to demonstrate focus area expertise in alignment with growth plan.
  • Presents at industry conferences as necessary to demonstrate expertise in focus area.
Client Development + Management
  • Proactively establishes and provides a phenomenal experience to prospective clients.
  • Transitions client relationships to new client managers once relationship is established.
  • Attends regular meetings with the client development team to report on progress and share important client and project pursuit information.
  • Generates proposals and contracts for their project pursuits. Seeks input from operations team as necessary. Delegates proposal and contract preparation to assigned project manager as appropriate.
  • Consults with Operations Leader concerning unusual problems and developments during projects.
  • Responsible for maintaining existing client managed firms when appropriate and transitioning clients to new client managers when appropriate.
“Focus Area” Leader and Operations Leader partnership
  • Partners with Operations leader when determining need for Project Principal and who when necessary
  • Proactively communicates project requirements, staffing needs and schedule to ensure seamless project delegation
  • Effective hand-off of project to Operations leader and project manager
  • Communicate client experience expectations to operations leader and project manager
  • Effectively provide client feedback to operations leader and project manager throughout project
  • If not Project Principal, establish involvement during project with Operations Leader
  • Partners with Operations Leader and client development team on identifying and implement future client managers for newly developed clients.
Firm Leadership
  • Embraces core values + demonstrates these principles in daily work.
  • Innovates; generates ideas that are applied toward the growth and expansion of the firm.
  • May be asked to participate and/or play a lead role in thought leadership, content management, recruitment, outreach, production improvement, strategic initiatives, additional projects as requested, etc.
  • As assigned, effectively accomplishes strategic initiatives and completes priority projects through successful prioritization and delegation.

Minimum Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or related)
  • 10+ years of AEC experience

  • Ability to work autonomously and set own work schedule to meet priorities and established business objectives
