Brief Job Overview

The Senior Market Development Manager is responsible for executing a comprehensive business growth strategy to expand USP Biologics activities across cell and gene therapy, monoclonal antibodies, peptides, and microbiology modalities. This role will identify, research, and pursue new and adjacent market opportunities, translating market insights into actionable strategies that drive adoption of USP Biologics standards and reference materials.

The incumbent will build, cultivate, and sustain strategic relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders, including biologics manufacturers, raw material suppliers, analytical testing laboratories, distributors, and trade and industry organizations. Through proactive relationship management and collaboration, the role will expand USP’s commercial network, generate new sales opportunities, and support increased market penetration and brand awareness.

Working cross‑functionally with sales, product management, scientific affairs, digital and regional marketing, and other internal teams, the Senior Market Development Manager will serve as a critical liaison between customers and USP stakeholders. This collaboration will support the development and execution of integrated marketing and sales strategies aimed at meeting annual revenue targets, driving profitable growth, and improving gross margin performance.

The role requires a strong understanding of USP business requirements, customer needs, and competitive market dynamics. Responsibilities include analyzing competitor activity, tracking regional customer and pipeline data, managing budgets and forecasts for growth initiatives, and monitoring performance through regular reporting to ensure delivery against key objectives.

In addition, this position will support voice‑of‑customer efforts to inform future standards and materials development and contribute to external collaborations aligned with USP’s mission. Success in this role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to navigate complexity, influence cross‑functional teams, and engage external partners effectively.

Who is USP Looking For?
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related science field required or business degree and 4+ years related field experience.
  • 5-6 years of experience in global pharmaceutical or life science tools industry, a strong understanding of local market and manufacturing trends, and an existing network of industry contacts.
  • At least 4 years of experience in sales, marketing or customer‑facing role.
  • Basic understanding of pharmaceutical industry, FDA/government regulations and use of compendial and industry standards.
Additional Desired Preferences
  • Combined education and experience within life science tools, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and analytical sciences.
  • Experience using data analytical platforms (e.g. Tableau), digital marketing platforms (e.g. Marketo) and CRM platform (e.g. Sales Force).
  • Previous sales and/or global marketing experience of standards, controls, or reference materials.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, quality control, quality assurance or GMP background a plus.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: USD $120,051.00 – $171,072.00 annually.

Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.
