Job description

Overview

GCG Automation & Factory Solutions is seeking a Director, Strategy Deployment to help translate divisional priorities into clear, coordinated initiatives that improve execution and business performance.

In this high-visibility individual contributor role, you'll partner closely with the division president and other senior leaders to support strategic planning, lead complex cross-functional initiatives, establish effective governance, and maintain accountability for key business priorities. You will help convert strategic objectives into practical roadmaps, measurable goals, executive dashboards, and action plans that keep teams aligned and initiatives moving forward.

This opportunity is well suited for an experienced strategy, transformation, program management, or management consulting professional who can move comfortably between high-level planning and detailed execution. The right candidate will bring sound business judgment, strong analytical and facilitation skills, and the ability to influence leaders and teams without relying on direct authority.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based at our Automation & Factory Solutions location at 2119 Austin Ave, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48309. The role reports to the President of Automation & Factory Solutions and requires approximately 20% travel.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with the President of Automation & Factory Solutions and senior leaders to translate divisional priorities into measurable goals, roadmaps, and execution plans.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual strategic planning and business-review processes.
  • Manage high-impact, cross-functional initiatives from planning through implementation, establishing clear timelines, governance, ownership, and success measures.
  • Track milestones, dependencies, budgets, risks, and deliverables, and recommend corrective actions when initiatives fall behind.
  • Establish and maintain KPIs, scorecards, and executive dashboards that provide clear visibility into business performance.
  • Analyze operational and financial results to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and areas requiring leadership attention.
  • Prepare executive briefings, leadership communications, board-level materials, and decision-support presentations.
  • Coordinate leadership meetings, strategic off-sites, and governance forums, ensuring decisions and action items are documented and completed.
  • Build alignment across functions and influence stakeholders without direct authority to achieve shared objectives.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and decision-making sessions involving senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve strategic planning, governance, portfolio management, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Apply appropriate continuous-improvement methods, including Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and current-state/future-state analysis.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll BringRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, operations, strategy, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in strategy, management consulting, program or portfolio management, business transformation, operational excellence, or executive-office leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives and leading complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives.
  • Proven ability to translate broad strategic objectives into structured plans, measurable goals, and coordinated execution.
  • Experience managing complex programs in a matrixed or multi-functional organization.
  • Strong understanding of strategic planning, governance, portfolio management, and program management practices.
  • Experience establishing key performance indicators, scorecards, executive dashboards, and business-review processes.
  • Strong business and financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret performance data and identify meaningful trends.
  • Experience preparing executive presentations, briefings, recommendations, and decision-support materials.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to guide senior-level discussions toward decisions and clear next steps.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive accountability without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong organizational judgment, discretion, and professionalism when working with confidential or sensitive business information.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, along with experience using project or portfolio management tools.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or another relevant advanced degree.
  • Experience working in industrial automation, electrical distribution, manufacturing, engineered solutions, or a related business environment.
  • Experience supporting the president, general manager, or executive leadership team of a division or business unit.
  • Familiarity with organizational change-management practices.
  • Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, current-state/future-state analysis, or similar continuous-improvement methodologies.
  • Experience developing data visualizations or executive dashboards using business-intelligence tools.
  • Experience working across multiple locations, operating companies, or distributed teams.
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary.
  • Comprehensive health coverage with multiple plan options, including CDHP and PPO options.
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Supplemental insurance options.
  • Generous time off, including PTO, paid holidays, parental leave, and compassionate care leave.
  • Wellness and support programs, including EAP resources, wellness incentives, and telehealth.
  • Additional benefits such as dental and vision coverage, FSAs and HSAs with company contributions, pet insurance, legal services, and identity-theft protection.
