Aptos seeks a Director, Legal Affairs to join its global team supporting leading SaaS solutions for the retail industry. As the global leader in unified commerce technology, Aptos enables over 100,000 retail stores and some of the world's top brands to optimize operations and drive nearly $2 trillion in annual revenue.
Reporting to the SVP, General Counsel, the Director, Legal Affairs will oversee a broad range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, data privacy, and AI governance. This high-impact role partners closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, Security, Finance, and People teams to manage legal risk and support business objectives. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating SaaS and software agreements, developing legal playbooks, advising on US and international privacy laws, and contributing to compliance initiatives such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001. The Director will also help shape Aptos' data privacy and AI governance frameworks and support corporate governance activities.
The ideal candidate brings at least 7 years of relevant legal experience, including in-house work at a technology or SaaS company, strong contract negotiation skills, and expertise in data privacy and AI governance. A J.D. and active bar membership in at least one US state are required. Aptos values clear communication, pragmatic judgment, and a collaborative, business-minded approach.
