The Team

Our Human Resources department includes specialized teams in Recruitment, Learning and Development, and HR Operations. Team members are based across North America and work collaboratively as one HR team to deliver comprehensive support to both our fee-earner and business services groups, with a particular focus on team members in our Kansas City office.

The Role

The Recruitment Advisor will work closely with the North America Recruitment team to manage and support legal recruitment across all U.S. and Canadian offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR Business Partners and Hiring Managers to recruit lateral attorneys and paralegals across North America, liaising with the Recruitment Manager on recruitment strategies and ensuring all hiring practices align with fair and accessible hiring policies.
  • Help identify high-caliber talent through direct sourcing, market mapping, and research using best-practice recruitment methods.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of future talent through proactive market engagement and networking.
  • Review and screen resumes, providing high-quality, detailed shortlists and demonstrating an understanding of a strong legal background.
  • Advise hiring managers on recruitment needs, providing feedback and escalating issues to the Head of Recruitment (North America) as needed.
  • Stay current on legal market trends and compensation data across the region.
  • Manage recruitment procedures, including securing proper approvals and posting on the firm's website, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
  • Regularly review job boards and social media platforms to identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and current information for reporting purposes in the firm's in-house agency tracker.
  • Provide support and coverage for colleagues as needed.
  • Contribute proactively to ad hoc recruiting projects and process improvements.
  • Utilize the firm's Workday system for all recruitment activities, ensuring data accuracy, candidate tracking, requisition management, and compliance with internal policies.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • At least two years of recruitment experience, ideally within the legal or professional services industry.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Strong ability to advise and influence key stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic approach with a client-service mindset.
  • Experience using an applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • Experience direct sourcing via LinkedIn.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and communicate promptly when timelines shift.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading accuracy.
  • Ownership and accountability for work, with a commitment to supporting both immediate tasks and broader project goals.
  • Collaborative team player with a willingness to support colleagues across Recruitment and HR.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and proactive, with strong prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
