Veterinary Medical Director - Paws and Claws Animal Hospital | Lambertville, MI

Are you an experienced veterinarian with leadership aspirations and looking for the right opportunity to grow into a Medical Director role with support and mentorship?

Paws and Claws Animal Hospital is excited to offer a unique succession planning opportunity for a DVM who wants to step into leadership the right way-with guidance, collaboration, and a thoughtful transition plan in place.

About Us

At Paws and Claws Animal Hospital, we've built a strong reputation for providing high-quality, compassionate care for pets and their families in the Lambertville community and surrounding areas.

Our hospital offers a full range of services including preventive care, diagnostics, surgery, and dentistry. We pride ourselves on our supportive team culture, strong client relationships, and commitment to practicing progressive, high-quality medicine.

This role is ideal for someone who:

What You’ll Do
  • Provide high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care
  • Build strong relationships with clients and patients
  • Collaborate closely with the current Medical Director and team
  • Gradually take on leadership responsibilities, including:
  • Mentoring and supporting fellow DVMs
  • Contributing to medical protocols and standards of care
  • Helping guide hospital growth and team development
Qualifications

  • Eligible for or currently holds Michigan veterinary license
  • Strong interest in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care and client service
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
Preferred Experience
  • 3-5+ years of small animal clinical experience
  • Strong foundation in medicine, surgery, and dentistry
  • Interest in leadership, mentorship, and team development
  • Desire to build long-term relationships within the hospital and community
Core Competencies
  • Small Animal Medicine
  • Preventive & Wellness Care
  • Client Communication & Education
  • Diagnostic Interpretation
  • Surgical Proficiency
  • Dentistry & Oral Health
  • Medical Record Documentation
  • Team Collaboration
  • Problem Solving & Critical Thinking
  • Compassionate Patient Care
  • Time Management & Organization
  • Continuous Learning & Professional Development
Our Investment in You
  • Competitive base salary plus production (no negative accrual)
  • Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (with HSA options)
  • 401(k) options
  • Generous PTO and flexible scheduling
  • Paid CE days plus CE allowance
  • Paid licensure, dues, and AVMA PLIT coverage
  • Personal pet discounts
  • Schedule
  • Flexible full-time scheduling.

If you're looking for more than just your next job-and instead want a clear, supported path into veterinary leadership-we'd love to connect.

The Company offers competitive compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision benefits, vacation, sick leave, 401(k), and more depending on location. You will be provided more detailed information about compensation and benefits for your specific location. Where required under applicable law, the company provides eligible employees with paid sick leave, health emergency leave, and similar benefits programs, all in accordance with the requirements of state and local law depending on the location of the practice you support.

The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic.
