Position Information
Job Title Assistant Dean of Teaching and Learning - Harrison County Campus Job Description
1. Ensure that the Campus Vice President (VP), Deans, and School Chairs are well informed concerning Career and Technical Education (CTE) operations, including exemplary performance and problems that need to be addressed.
2. Be visible and available to support CTE faculty with regular presence in CTE buildings and labs.
3. Attend curriculum alignment/rewrites and support School Chairs in producing IAC proposals.
4. Work with business and industry to identify CTE instructional and equipment needs, facilitate the development of strong industry-based advisory committees, and serve as the point of contact for information on new programs and revision of existing programs.
5. Be responsible for monitoring inventory, upkeep, maintenance, and safety for the CTE training programs.
6. Provide management of all CTE programmatic activities, budgets, equipment, facilities, accreditations, competitions, technical skill attainments (TSA), and mobile training units.
7. Coordinate with the Campus Dean of Teaching and Learning and other administrators on the assignment of CTE classrooms.
8. Provide information on CTE needs to the Dean of Teaching & Learning for the appropriate campus/center.
9. Monitor labor market trends and community needs and make recommendations for CTE training, basic skills, and continuing education needs.
10. Serve as a campus point of contact for supporting internships and apprenticeships.
11. Work closely with District Office and the Dean of Teaching & Learning to ensure proper accounting for CTE and special projects. Monitor data input for all CTE grants, scholarships, programs, and special projects to ensure compliance with accountability systems (e.g., Perkins).
12. Support faculty in achieving programmatic excellence and excelling beyond minimum thresholds on health metrics, including program plans of improvement as needed.
13. Handle logistics of tours for CTE programs and collaborate in the scheduling, planning, and execution of events held on campus.
14. Assist the Dean of Teaching and Learning with recruitment and retention of all programs, emphasizing CTE programs and including development of an annual plan for promotion of campus CTE programs.
15. Work with the Dean of Teaching & Learning and the Associate Vice President of CTE when purchasing items through Perkins and Career and Technical Advantage Program funds.
16. Coordinate and oversee off-campus dual credit classes and the Collegiate Academy.
17. Work with local school districts and high schools to identify opportunities for dual credit and Collegiate Academy and serve as a point of contact for information on new dual credit/Collegiate Academy programs and revision of existing programs.
18. Assist with the development of dual credit/Collegiate Academy classes as directed by the Campus Dean of Teaching and Learning, including overseeing the building of classes in BANNER.
19. Work with high school partners and appropriate MGCCC administrators to coordinate off-campus dual credit classes and Collegiate Academy, including CTE dual credit.
20. Ensure that the Campus VP, Deans, and School Chairs are well informed concerning classes offered at Off-Campus Instructional Sites (OCIS), including exemplary performance and problems that need to be addressed.
21. Conduct OCIS visits periodically to all dual credit locations to ensure MGCCC requirements are met from a facility, equipment, and supplies standpoint.
22. Work with the Dean of Teaching & Learning to assure that dual credit instructors meet appropriate qualification standards, gather records of the credentials, and submit records for each instructor through the MGCCC process.
23. Respond to inquiries from dual-credit teachers regarding materials, teaching methods, and special projects, and respond to their concerns by providing information and making referrals.
24. Help School Chairs observe instructors at dual-credit OCIS to ensure the quality and rigor of classes are consistent with MGCCC standards, as needed.
25. Ensure the timely input of EZ Attendance records and grades from the OCIS related to dual credit.
26. Assist in an annual review of all publications and forms used in the CTE and dual credit instructional areas, including recommending appropriate revisions.
27. Assist with the development of CTE and dual credit class schedules and registration as directed by the Campus Dean of Teaching and Learning.
28. Promote and reinforce a student-centered environment on campus.
29. Provide student advisement and support counseling, as needed.
30. Work with counterparts from other campuses and the district office to ensure consistent administration of college policies and procedures. Assure campus compliance with all college policies and procedures in order to fulfill the one college commitment to students.
31. Attain and maintain knowledge and skills relative to the BANNER administrative software.
32. Serve on the Campus Leadership Team.
33. Serve on college-wide councils and committees, as assigned.
34. Upgrade skill level and performance through employee development by completing at least 15 hours of employee development training annually, including necessary training for job-related duties.
35. Assume the assigned level of responsibility in campus emergency management system hierarchy.
36. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Duties
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and overseeing Career and Technical Education, as well as dual credit. Dual credit includes Collegiate Academy. The Assistant Dean of Teaching & Learning reports to the Campus Dean of Teaching and Learning.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Master's degree in education or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
(M2) Post-secondary teaching experience.
(M3) Minimum of three years of experience in higher education administration, post-secondary instruction, career and technical education, or a closely related field.
(M4) Experience in a supervisory or program coordination capacity.
(M5) Experience working with business or professional councils.
(M6) Strong written communication skills.
(M7) Knowledge of emerging instructional technologies, including AI.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning in education, educational leadership, community college leadership, or a related field.
(D2) Experience with dual credit instruction or programs.
(D3) Perkins V reporting experience.
(D4) Experience with grant compliance and reporting.
(D5) Experience developing or maintaining industry-based advisory committees within CTE programs.
(D6) Experience with Banner or Canvas LMS.
