Job Summary
The Director of Teaching and Learning's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing strategic leadership for faculty and staff professional development, instructional design, and advancement of high-quality teaching across the institution. This position leads initiatives that promote evidence-based instructional practices, innovative course design, and continuous improvement of student learning outcomes in alignment with institutional priorities, accreditation standards, and workforce needs.
The Director serves as a campus leader and resource on best practices in teaching, learning, and instructional design. The Director collaborates with academic leadership, faculty, and Institutional Effectiveness to ensure the design, delivery, and assessment of instruction support student success, retention, and completion. This position is an exempt level position, and reports directly to the AVP of Accreditation and Strategic Initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, organize and lead LIT's professional development opportunities.
  • Oversee day-to-day management of the Teaching and Learning Center including oversight of the programs, service, and budget.
  • Guideinstructional design efforts for face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.
  • Provide direct support and consultation to faculty on course design, alignment of learning outcomes, and integration of active learning strategies.
  • Design, deliver, and assess professional development programs focused on teaching effectiveness, instructional innovation, and student engagement.
  • Support faculty in adopting student-centered andevidence-basedinstructional practices.
  • Coordinate onboarding and ongoing training for new and adjunct faculty related to teaching expectations, instructional technology, and course delivery.
  • Facilitate communities of practice, workshops, and peer-learning opportunities to strengthen teaching and learning across disciplines.
  • Partner with Institutional effectiveness and academic leadership to align instructional practices with student learning outcomes and program assessment.
  • Promote the use of data to inform teaching practices and improve student success metrics (e.g., retention, completion, and course success rates).
  • Support faculty in designing meaningful assessments that demonstrate student learning and program effectiveness.

  • Provide guidance on digital pedagogy, accessibility, and universal design for learning (UDL).
  • Evenings and weekends may berequired.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in education, instructional design, curriculum and instruction, or a related field (doctoral degree preferred).
  • Significant experiencein higher education teaching, instructional design, or faculty development.
  • Demonstratedexpertisein course design, learningoutcomesalignment, and assessment practices.
  • Experience supporting online and hybrid course development.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree ina relevantdiscipline.
  • Experience leading faculty development programs ora teachingand learningcenter.
  • Experience working with institutional data to support teaching and learning improvement.
  • Experience in a community or technical college.
