Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Economic Development is responsible for ensuring the consistency and delivery of the CIDC message relative to development and implementation of the CIP Strategic Plan. Also responsible for overseeing the organization's operations, finances, strategic planning, public relations, and contractual and governmental relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Minimum five years to seven years of experience in commercial, real estate development, marketing, and sales or a bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience with property management, project management, public relations, and partnership development. Minimum five years of experience with real estate activities. Minimum three years of experience with transportation activities.

Special Requirements:

Graduate of the Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute. Possession of a valid Texas Class C driver's license or higher.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of city budgeting procedures and policies and ability to monitor expenditures and revenues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various county, federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, ordinances, and or policies applicable to economic development.
  • Knowledge regarding the transaction of real estate sale and/or purchase.
  • Knowledge regarding public transportation systems.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both orally and in writing, including the ability to give effective presentations to City Council, employee groups, citizen groups, developers, builders, businesses and industries, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: feeling, hearing, mental acuity, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
