Registered Nurse (RN) - Infection Prevention and Quality Specialist
Full Time/40 hours per week - no weekends or holidays
SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse will implement the necessary interventions to support the infection prevention and performance improvement activities of the organization. The Registered Nurse will assist with quality reviews and data analysis to identify areas of improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gathers and reports data on patient and employee infections.
  • Monitors the Home Care Program and The Residence for potential infection spreading practices.
  • Assists with the implementation of the Infection Prevention Program including all needed documentation.
  • Monitors status of employees who have suffered exposures.
  • Conducts annual influenza vaccine clinics for employees.
  • Performs data entry, report generation and data management for employee respiratory protection and influenza compliance reports.
  • Performs N95 respirator fit testing for new and existing employees in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participates in New Employee Orientation and Volunteer Trainings
  • Remains current with CDC guidelines, infection control research and practices; provides staff with information as applicable.
  • Organizes and implements mandatory infection control in-services.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement program through monthly reports to Quality and Compliance Committee regarding patient and employee infections and hand hygiene practices.
  • Researches and monitors employee related incident reports, tracing important information and updating Director of Access and Quality of noticed patterns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assists with quality reviews and documentation audits comprises data and participates in quality and improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings when appropriate.
  • Conducts ride alongs to ensure infection prevention practices and other tasks are demonstrated during patient visits
  • Attends mandatory agency in-services, all staff, and support staff meetings as available.
  • Meets deadlines and completes all documentation in a timely manner.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Registered Nurse with a current Michigan nursing license. Knowledge of or willingness to learn hospice care. Minimum of two years nursing practice or equivalent experience required. Hospice and/or Home Health experience preferred. Experience with electronic medical records. Successful Completion of Infection Preventionist modules within first 90 days of hire required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current MI Nursing License. If required to drive to carry out the duties of this position: current driver's license and automobile insurance as required by Michigan State Law.
