Job description

Lead Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction Location: Moore, Oklahoma

Silver Star Construction is seeking a highly motivated Lead Estimator to join our employee-owned team. This role will focus on preparing estimates for roadway, earthwork, utility, and civil infrastructure projects while supporting strategic growth throughout Oklahoma.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project plans and specifications to determine project requirements
  • Calculate quantities and prepare detailed cost estimates
  • Gather and compare pricing from vendors and subcontractors
  • Identify potential project risks and constructability concerns
  • Participate in bid reviews and project strategy meetings
  • Coordinate with engineers, owners, and consultants throughout the bidding process
  • Evaluate opportunities for alternative methods and cost efficiencies
  • Assist with scheduling and proposal development
  • Monitor compliance with DBE participation requirements
  • Help establish estimating standards and best practices
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to estimating team members

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing estimates for transportation and heavy civil projects
  • DOT estimating experience required; ODOT familiarity preferred
  • Skilled in estimating and project management software platforms
  • Strong proficiency in HeavyBid, Bluebeam, AGTEK, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Excel, and Microsoft Project
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline preferred
  • Equivalent industry experience accepted
  • Five-plus years of estimating experience in civil construction
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Ability to work effectively under tight bid deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
