Job description

Overview:

CyCan Industries is a producer of high-quality aerosol, canister and bulk product formulations. These products are supplied with a number of different end uses. CyCan is seeking a Product Development Chemist who will be responsible for the daily activities in the laboratory as well as quality department and production support as needed. The primary focus of the role is to develop, maintain and improve products as needed while bringing products from lab scale to full production. CyCan is seeking an individual who is passionate about maintaining high standards and who is committed to success.

Responsibilities:

  • New formulation development of adhesives, lubricants, cleaners, detailing sprays; in aerosol, canister and bulk formats.
  • Product optimization of existing products for cost out, performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Review, study and approval of new raw materials.
  • Testing and analysis of products to evaluate performance, physical properties and stability.
  • Pilot trialing and product scale up working with the operations team to take new or optimized products from lab bench to production.
  • Document work and findings in detail in lab notebooks and formal reports.
  • Support quality and complaint investigations as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in chemistry or related field.
  • 5 years experience in adhesive product formulation.
  • Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and deliver results with minimal direct supervision.
  • Must be a hands on chemist able to safely work with hazardous materials such as solvents and flammable gases while adhering to all safety guidelines, best practices and industry regulations while using appropriate PPE where required.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize/manage schedule.
  • Curious and inquisitive nature with a willingness to learn.
  • Creativity in problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite.
  • Onsite daily presence required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in adhesive and solvent based formulations.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing aerosol and/or canister products.
  • Understanding of aerosol/canister manufacturing and filling processes.
  • Experience with industry regulatory requirements.
