Spring Footwear is a growing, multi-channel footwear company operating across:

  • Wholesale (B2B): National accounts, independent and specialty retailers
  • Direct-to-Consumer (D2C): Company website, Amazon Marketplace, and retail stores

With over 3,000 retail partners and expanding digital and retail operations, we are building a finance organization that can support scale, complexity, and speed.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Director of Accounting & Finance to take full ownership of the finance function and build a high-performing, process-driven organization.

This role reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for:

  • Stabilizing and accelerating financial operations
  • Building structure, discipline, and accountability
  • Creating a scalable finance foundation to support growth

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can take control, fix gaps, and build a system and Team that runs efficiently and reliably.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting Leadership & Month-End Close

  • Lead full month-end close (target: ≤5–7 business days)
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial statements
  • Maintain clean, fully reconciled balance sheet
  • Establish and enforce close calendar and accountability

2. Finance Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the finance team:
    • Accounting Manager
    • A/R Team (3)
    • A/P (1)
    • Senior Financial Analyst
  • Define clear roles, responsibilities, and KPIs
  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing talent
  • Build a team that operates with ownership and accountability

3. A/R, A/P & Credit Management

  • Strengthen collections and reduce DSO
  • Implement and enforce credit policies
  • Manage vendor payment processes and cash flow timing
  • Improve working capital and cash conversion cycle

4. Financial Reporting & Visibility

  • Deliver monthly:
    • P&L
    • Balance Sheet
    • Cash Flow
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and actionable
  • Support development of dashboards and performance reporting

5. Multi-Channel Financial Operations

  • Manage financial complexity across:
    • Wholesale (national accounts, independents)
    • E-commerce (Shopify, Amazon)
    • Retail stores
  • Oversee reconciliation across platforms and ensure margin visibility

6. Process Improvement, Systems & Controls

  • Implement automation and process improvements
  • Document and standardize SOPs across finance
  • Strengthen internal controls and compliance (GAAP)
  • Support ERP and reporting system enhancements

7. Business Partnership & Performance

  • Partner directly with the CEO on:
    • financial performance
    • margin improvement
    • cost control initiatives
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Provide insights to drive better business decisions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance leadership roles
  • Experience in multi-channel distribution (B2B, D2C, retail, e-commerce)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • inventory and cost accounting
    • financial reporting and controls
    • working capital and cash flow management
  • Hands-on leader with a builder mindset
  • Proven ability to:
    • fix and improve processes
    • manage complexity
    • build and lead strong teams

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Amazon, Shopify, and national account operations
  • ERP system experience (Mast 90, OMS, NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
  • Background in consumer goods, apparel, or footwear
