At NC State University, we're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Elevator Contract Manager to oversee the performance, maintenance, and compliance of vertical transportation systems across our vibrant campus.
This is more than a contract management role-it's an opportunity to contribute to a safe, efficient, and welcoming experience for thousands of students, faculty, staff, and visitors every day. You'll work at the intersection of facilities operations, safety compliance, and strategic vendor relationships, making a tangible impact across the university community.

As the Elevator Contract Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of all campus elevator systems. You'll serve as the university's subject matter expert and liaison among elevator contractors, internal stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. If you're an experienced facilities professional with a focus on safety, contract management, and technical systems-especially in elevator maintenance-we want to hear from you. Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer and interpret elevator maintenance contracts to ensure contractors deliver quality service in line with university expectations
  • Perform routine site inspections and evaluations to confirm compliance with operational, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Represent the university during audits and inspections by the NC Department of Labor and insurance risk assessors
  • Assess out-of-scope repair needs, write technical specifications, and manage procurement and project execution
  • Collaborate with design and construction teams to review and approve elevator-related changes in renovations and new projects
  • Ensure consistent compliance with ANSI A17.1, A17.2, A18.1, NEC Section 620, Building Code 3000, and ADA standards
  • Analyze elevator performance metrics, diagnose system issues, and recommend enhancements to improve system uptime and longevity
Other Responsibilities
  • This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Associate's Degree in the assigned discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require certification. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
Other Required Qualifications
  • Ability to independently manage all aspects of a complex elevator program
  • Ability to conduct elevator inspections, evaluations, and oversee maintenance contracts. Manage out-of-scope work, including ADA renovations and upgrades, by developing specifications, coordinating bids, securing funding, and approving payments. Ensure compliance with NEC, ANSI, ADA, and building codes.
  • Must be able to lift up to 90 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct Knowledge of multiple trades related to building systems (ie. Mechanical , Hydraulic, Electrical, HVAC) with hands on experience
  • Knowledge in all building codes including codes including ADA and elevator related codes
  • Experience in construction and project management and contract management
  • Strong computer skills, planning and scheduling , organizational skills and report writing
  • Qualified Elevator Inspector certification (QEl)
  • Electrical License
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
  • Valid Driver's license required
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license is required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained
