The Role:

We're seeking a Director, Development to lead multifamily and mixed-use development projects from concept through stabilization. This role will play a critical part in identifying new development opportunities, managing complex projects, navigating entitlement processes, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver successful investments and communities.

What You'll Do:

Lead Development Projects:

  • Manage multiple development projects through acquisition, planning, entitlements, design, construction, lease-up, and stabilization.

  • Evaluate project feasibility through market analysis, financial underwriting, site due diligence, environmental reviews, and risk assessments

  • Lead project strategy and guide decision-making throughout the development lifecycle

  • Prepare investment recommendations and presentations for executive leadership and investment committees

Drive New Development Opportunities:

  • Identify and evaluate potential development opportunities within target markets

  • Build relationships with landowners, brokers, municipalities, consultants, and industry stakeholders

  • Assess risks and opportunities associated with prospective deals and guide pursuit strategies

Manage Entitlements and Approvals:

  • Lead entitlement efforts and coordinate with municipalities, planning agencies, attorneys, architects, engineers, and consultants

  • Navigate zoning, permitting, land use, and regulatory approval processes

  • Develop strategies to address project challenges and maintain project momentum

Partner Across the Organization:

  • Lead cross-functional asset teams and collaborate closely with Construction, Operations, Investments, and Design partners

  • Manage consultant and vendor relationships to ensure project objectives, schedules, and budgets are achieved

  • Provide regular development updates and reporting to senior leadership

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • MBA with a Real Estate concentration or Master's degree in Real Estate Development preferred

  • Seven or more years of real estate development experience, including direct experience managing multifamily, mixed-use, or related development projects

  • Strong financial modeling and underwriting skills

  • Experience leading entitlement, design, consultant, and development execution processes

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management capabilities

  • Ability to lead complex projects while influencing stakeholders across multiple disciplines

  • LEED or similar industry certifications are a plus
