Job description

Job Title: Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator Type: Direct Hire Contractor Work Model: Onsite Security Clearance: Top Secret w/ SCI eligibility

Location: Bolling AFB, Washington, DC Clearance: Active Top Secret required, current or previously held SCI strongly preferred

Candidates are expected to have a strong work ethic and possess the ability to work as a critical member of a team in pursuit of mission objectives and in support of our customers. We value candidates who are detail oriented while also being able to think and react quickly to emerging and unique problem sets. To be successful in this role, you'll need to be hands on, operationally disciplined, and able to take ownership of PostgreSQL environments supporting a fast paced mission critical program.

Responsibilities & Duties include, but are not limited to: Administer, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL databases across development, test, and production environments Own database performance tuning, backups, replication, recovery, and day to day operational support Design, implement, and support PostgreSQL high availability and disaster recovery solutions Manage schemas, indexes, stored procedures, permissions, and database security controls Enforce access controls, auditing, governance, retention, and compliance aligned controls Support Kubernetes based database and application operations in secure environments Administer CI/CD pipelines and automation supporting database and application delivery Partner with developers, infrastructure teams, and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and maintain strong operational stability Communicate technical risks, issues, and recommendations clearly in a mission focused environment

Here's What You'll Need: Must have active Top Secret clearance with current or previously held SCI access Security+ or equivalent certification meeting DoD 8140 requirements Strong hands on PostgreSQL administration experience in secure enterprise environments Experience with PostgreSQL performance tuning, backup and recovery, replication, HA/DR, and security Experience with Kubernetes and containerized database or application operations Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines Experience enforcing encryption, key management, auditing, and database security controls Ability to rapidly take ownership of PostgreSQL responsibilities and ramp quickly on program specific tooling Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross functional teams Ability to maintain composure under pressure and respond effectively in high visibility production environments

Minimum Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute 10+ years of overall database administration experience 5+ years of recent, deep PostgreSQL administration experience required Experience designing, implementing, and tuning PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments Experience owning PostgreSQL HA/DR configurations and production operations 3+ years of Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and CI/CD experience Experience with AWS, including PostgreSQL related cloud environments and backup or recovery tooling Experience supporting secure production systems with urgency and operational discipline

Preferred: Master’s degree Experience with Amazon RDS, Azure SQL, or other cloud database platforms Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS Experience with EDB PostgreSQL tools and enterprise PostgreSQL environments Azure DBA or related database certifications Additional experience with SQL Server, MySQL, or MariaDB in mixed database environments
