SAFETY & SECURITY INTERN
$16.00-20.00 per hour

Mid May - Mid August (10 Weeks)

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Upper Occoquan Service Authority (UOSA) is a leader in water reclamation and a high-performance treatment facility in Northern Virginia. The organization seeks an energetic college student presently studying in the fields of Safety, Emergency Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent studies, to work as a Summer Intern within the Safety & Security Section.


DUTIES INCLUDE

The Safety & Security Intern is responsible for performing progressively technical and complex tasks, working independently as well as in conjunction with experienced employees to enhance and complete safety programs. The position will be under the direct guidance and supervision of the Safety and Security Program Manager and the Safety & Security Coordinators, and other experienced UOSA Staff. The intern will assist with planning, implementing, and auditing functions to enhance compliance and reduce occupational injuries. The intern will provide information to UOSA staff through the compilation and complex analysis of data collected with a focus on Hazard Communication, Hearing Protection, and Confined Space Entry.

EXAMPLES of WORK

Database updates and coordination of safety programs to include SDS monitoring.

Participate in UOSA inspections, assessments, and audits.

Work with Safety & Security Staff and others on research and technical updates to existing programs and procedures.

Research compliance and best management practices and assist with drafting technical bulletins and training documents.

Assist the Safety & Security staff and other UOSA Staff with additional tasks as needed.
