Overview
Job Purpose
The Senior Database Developer/DBA will be a key member of the Database Administration team, working in a high-energy, collaborative environment. This role spans the full spectrum of database operations, including architecture and design, development, troubleshooting, performance optimization, data analysis, implementation, and ongoing support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ongoing software development for a key business line, collaborating closely with users and management in the planning of major functionality, analyzing business functional requirements to determine the scope of work, evaluating available application alternatives to support business needs, and managing resource planning/constraints. This position requires strong discretion, independent judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct PL/SQL or SQL development to solve business problem
  • Conduct database administrative work to support production system
  • 80% PL/SQL development work and 20% Database Administration work
  • Provide support for QA and Development systems
  • Identify and implement opportunities to fine-tune and optimize database systems
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical expertise in database development and administration
  • Work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
  • Self-directed work style with minimal supervision
  • Participate in on call rotation and occasional weekend work

Knowledge and Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Oracle database development
  • Extensive knowledge on developing database applications in PL/SQL-Triggers, Packages, Functions, Procedures, Complex SQL, Oracle Collection, Object Types knowledge and experience
  • SQL Query tuning using different tools with the ability to analyze and interpret execution plans
  • 5+ years of experience in Unix/Linux, including shell scripting
  • Hands-on Experience with core Oracle admin, RAC, MAA, Dataguard. ASM and CRS a plus
  • Python programming experience is a plus
  • Experience with other RDBMS experience is beneficial
  • Proven ability to manage and troubleshoot databases supporting high performance, multi-user applications
  • Excellent problem solving, issue identification, analytical and technical documentation skills
  • Professionalism, positive outlook, respect and courtesy to customers & all associates and excellent team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill
  • Understand SDLC process and tools, agile program management concepts and version control
