The Role & Team

As Senior Director, Creative Production, you'll raise the quality of everything BI Studios creates. You'll define creative standards, mentor producers, and ensure every campaign reflects the editorial quality and ambition of the Business Insider brand.

This is a player-coach role where you'll balance strategic leadership with hands-on creative work, whether that's editing an article, reviewing a documentary cut, shaping a client presentation, mentoring a producer, or leading a major client conversation. 

Reporting to the VP of Creative Strategy & Studios, you'll lead BI Studios' creative production organization, including Content Producers, Project Managers, Video, and a network of freelance creative partners. You'll partner with Creative Strategy, Sales, Design, Product, Finance, Legal, and Client Success to bring ambitious ideas to life while continuously evolving how we create them through new formats, products, AI-enabled workflows, and emerging audience behaviors.

This position is based in our New York City headquarters with an in-office expectation of at least three days per week and may require some travel.

Key ResponsibilitiesCreative Leadership
  • Oversee flagship campaigns and serve as BI Studios' most senior creative voice, elevating work through stronger storytelling, sharper narratives, and exceptional creative judgment.
  • Mentor the team and contribute to the work as needed by editing assets, reviewing scripts and video cuts, strengthening narratives across the board.
  • Establish and uphold BI Studios' creative standards, editorial voice, and storytelling principles.
  • Develop new storytelling formats, products, and creative capabilities that keep BI Studios at the forefront of branded content.
  • Stay ahead of trends across AI, audience behavior, media, and content discovery, translating them into new opportunities for BI Studios.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation that produces award-winning work and continually raises the creative bar.
Production Leadership
  • Oversee production across articles, video, social, vodcasts, interactives, and emerging formats.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at an exceptional creative standard.
  • Lead production planning, resource allocation, freelancer management, and operational workflows.
  • Build scalable systems and processes that support ambitious creative work while improving efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to thoughtfully integrate AI into creative and production workflows.
Team Leadership
  • Lead and develop a high-performing creative production organization.
  • Co-lead hiring, organizational planning, and talent development with the VP of Creative Strategy & Studios.
  • Build a culture rooted in collaboration, curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Create an environment where producers are empowered to grow creatively, think strategically, and do the best work of their careers.
Presales Leadership
  • Partner closely with Creative Strategy to shape proactive proposals, flagship pitches, and innovative client programs.
  • Serve as a senior creative voice in client meetings and presentations as needed.
  • Collaborate across Editorial, Sales, Product, Video, Design, Finance, Legal, and Client Success to continuously evolve BI Studios' capabilities.
  • Manage production budgets, freelancer relationships, and resource planning to support a healthy, scalable business.
  • Help shape the future direction of BI Studios by identifying new opportunities for innovation, growth, and creative excellence.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across editorial, video, social, and digital content.
  • Outstanding editorial judgment, storytelling instincts, and creative taste.
  • Experience managing production budgets, resources, and complex creative workflows.

  • Strong client-facing experience with the ability to confidently lead creative conversations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Experience creating award-winning branded content or editorial storytelling.
  • Experience using AI to enhance creative development, production workflows, or content strategy.
  • Familiarity with emerging approaches to AI-powered content discovery, search, and audience behavior, or a demonstrated curiosity and willingness to build expertise in this rapidly evolving space.

Salary & Benefits
  • Base salary: $160,000 - $170,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
