Job description

Leading a passionate, multi-disciplinary team, you will drive strategy, fiscal health, and operational excellence across four vital community programs embedded directly within our Inova Cares Clinics (ICC). We are seeking a strategic healthcare leader who can expertly navigate complex regulatory environments, maximize grant funding, and effectively measure the impact of social determinants of health (SDOH) interventions.

As Director, you will provide strategic oversight, budgetary control, and operational leadership to four distinct, high-impact programs:

1. Partnership for Healthier Communities (PHC): Embedded within ICC clinics, this critical team helps families navigate the complexities of applying for and renewing Medicaid, supports individuals who don't qualify, and connects patients with vital financial assistance.

2. Community Health Workers (CHW) Program: Operating on the frontlines of all Inova Cares Clinics to directly address Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). This team acts as the bridge between clinical care and community reality-marketing programs, serving as community liaisons, and identifying hyper-local needs.

3. Specialty Access Program: Bridging the gap for specialized care. This program manages referrals coming from community partners and ICC Family clinics for specialty services (like Dermatology, Nephrology, etc.) not traditionally covered by Inova, utilizing a dedicated budget and a network of contracted community physicians.

4. Lions Eye Clinic: Delivering critical ophthalmology care for uninsured patients battling chronic eye diseases. You will oversee this high-volume clinic and coordinate closely with the Inova Surgery Service Line to facilitate life-changing surgeries at the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership: Oversee the business strategy, daily operations, and long-term vision of all four program areas to ensure they align with Inova's organizational goals.
  • Financial & Grant Stewardship: Manage program finances, including budgeting and control of salary, non-salary, and capital investments. Maximize the impact of grant funding and ensure flawless financial compliance.
  • People Management & Culture: Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of roughly 30+ team members, promoting staff development, psychological safety, and a culture of service excellence.
  • Compliance & State Relations: Ensure all functional operations comply with accrediting and regulatory agency standards. Work hand-in-hand with state entities on data reporting and program evaluations.
  • Community Advocacy: Market and promote Inova's Community Health strategies, acting as an internal and external champion for equitable population health outcomes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years of health-related or healthcare experience
  • 2 years of direct healthcare management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing grant-funded programs and navigating state-level reporting compliance.
  • Deep understanding of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), Medicaid navigation, and safety-net clinical operations.
  • An adaptive, resilient leadership style capable of steering teams through regulatory and financial headwinds.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills to collaborate across service lines (like Surgery) and external community partners.
