Job description
Our client is a global financial services firm with a diversified platform spanning capital markets, trading, and asset management. Due to the confidential nature of this search, the client's identity will be disclosed to qualified candidates as the process progresses.
The firm is reactivating its institutional futures brokerage (FCM) business, dormant for roughly a decade, and relaunching it in response to strong client demand, including from several of the firm's largest existing relationships who want to face a qualified FCM rather than hold assets on a non-qualified custodian. In parallel, the firm is launching a new offering giving institutional clients access to prediction markets, regulated under the same CFTC framework as listed futures and options.
The firm is seeking a Managing Director to serve as the senior risk and strategic lead for this reactivated FCM business. This is a COO-type mandate, not a client-facing execution seat. The successful candidate will help design and stand up the risk, governance, and operating infrastructure for the business from the ground up, working closely with senior leadership as the franchise scales across futures and, over time, prediction markets.
- Key Responsibilities Own strategic and risk oversight for the reactivated FCM business, including margin, collateral, credit, and operational risk frameworks
- Build out the governance, controls, and infrastructure needed to support institutional futures brokerage at scale
- Partner with legal, compliance, and operations on the firm's CFTC registration and ongoing regulatory framework
- Serve as the senior supervisor of record for the business (Series 30)
- Advise on and help shape the build-out of the firm's new prediction markets offering as it comes online alongside the futures business
- Act as a senior point of contact for institutional clients, internal stakeholders, and regulators on strategic and risk matters
- Bring relevant exposure to repo, collateral management, or tokenization initiatives to bear as the business evolves, where applicable
- Qualifications Deep expertise in FCM operations, risk management, and the CFTC/NFA regulatory framework
- A strategic, COO-oriented profile — someone who has built or run a futures brokerage business, not primarily an execution trader
- Series 7, 30 & 30 licenses required
- Exposure to repo, collateral management, and/or tokenization a plus, but not required
- Track record managing risk and infrastructure for an institutional futures business, ideally through a build-out or relaunch
- Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable working across clients, compliance, technology, and senior leadership
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment as a new business line scales within a larger, established institution
