Who We Are

Clever Digital Marketing (CDM) is a performance marketing agency trusted by the largest home improvement companies across North America. We specialize in scaling client growth through full-funnel paid media strategies and deep business consulting. CDM's success is powered by its industry-leading reputation for exceptional service delivery and performance, with growth driven almost entirely by client referrals and expansion.

Our Enterprise Business Unit (EBU) partners with home improvement industry leaders managing $500K+ monthly ad budgets. These are high-touch, high-value, performance-obsessed clients. We operate as strategic advisors to them, integrating deeply with their internal teams to drive measurable growth through not only paid media strategy and execution, but also sales enablement, customer experience, and long-term profitability.

Our agency thrives on accountability, transparency, proactive leadership, and results - and we're looking for leaders who do too.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a high-performance Account Director to lead enterprise-level accounts and client relationships with a deep sense of ownership, authority, and drive

You'll be in the driver's seat - serving as the face of the agency and a strategic growth partner to your clients. This role is not for the passive or reactive. You'll push boundaries, challenge thinking, and anticipate problems before they arise, guiding both clients and internal teams with confidence and clarity.

Operating at the intersection of strategic consulting, performance marketing and analysis, and client leadership, you'll oversee as many as 3-5 large-scale accounts, each representing multimillion-dollar marketing investments, and play a key role in driving measurable business growth for your clients and for CDM.
Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Strategic Advisory
  • Serve as the primary strategic partner for up to 3-5 enterprise clients ($500K+/month ad spend), driving performance, alignment, and strategic direction.
  • Act as the primary executive-level advisor for enterprise clients, driving performance, alignment, and strategic direction.
  • Proactively push client thinking and agency performance, challenging assumptions and guiding toward scalable profitability.
  • Lead data-driven performance reviews, highlighting insights from ROAS, CPL and conversion rates, to down-funnel sales metrics.
  • Anticipate client needs, staying several steps ahead with proactive communication and clear recommendations.
  • Build deep, trust-based relationships with VP and C-suite leaders.
  • Guide clients with confidence and empathy, challenging thinking when needed to drive results.
Growth & Retention
  • Own account retention, growth, and revenue forecasting.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-channel growth and lead upsell conversations with credibility.
  • Forecast risks early and course-correct quickly, aligning internal teams to deliver solutions.
  • Lead renewal and expansion conversations with clarity and confidence.
Performance Insight & Decision-Making
  • Diagnose funnel performance across paid search, paid social, landing pages, and CRM pathways to uncover root causes and optimization opportunities.
  • Partner with analytics and media teams to connect marketing data to business outcomes.
  • Translate complex performance data into clear, actionable insights (not just reports) that drive executive-level decisions for your clients.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
  • Lead cross-functional teams across media, creative, CRO, and analytics to deliver high-impact, performance-driven campaigns.
  • Model extreme ownership, proactive initiative, and clarity under pressure - the behaviours that build client and team confidence.
  • Take full ownership of all client meetings, ensuring every touchpoint demonstrates strategic progress and delivers clear value through actionable insights, data analysis, and well-structured narratives.
  • Operate with a builder's mindset - identify gaps, create resources, and develop frameworks or tools that enable scalable delivery without waiting for direction.
  • Mentor and develop the account team, helping refine processes and contributing to the continued evolution of CDM's Enterprise Unit.
What We Are Looking For:
  • You're a driven strategic operator and relationship leader with the composure of a consultant and the hunger of a performance marketer who's comfortable in high-pressure situations.
You believe in ownership, love solving hard problems, and naturally take initiative. You inspire confidence because you do the work, not just talk about it. You're:
    • Proactive & Accountable: You don't wait to be told; you anticipate and act.
    • Analytical & Commercial: You connect data with business outcomes intuitively.
    • Assertive & Empathetic: You push when it's right, and listen when it matters with confident humility.
    • Calm & Composed: You thrive in fast-paced environments, lead with clarity under pressure, and communicate with polish.
    • Coachable & Growth-Minded: You see feedback as fuel, not criticism.
    • A Nature Leader with Presence: You lead with confidence and presence while building trust and collaboration with clients and agency teams alike.
    • A Builder at Heart: You're not afraid to roll up your sleeves, bringing structure to ambiguity and creating the clarity, tools, and direction that enable your clients and teams to perform at their best.
  • Qualifications

    • 6+ years of client-facing account leadership experience within performance-driven sectors.
    • 4+ years in a performance marketing or agency environment.
    • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
    • Proven experience managing $500K+/month accounts with VP/C-suite visibility.
    • Strong understanding of paid digital media and interpreting full-funnel performance data.
    • Demonstrated success driving retention, upsell, and proactive client engagement.
    • Confident communicator, storyteller, and polished presenter, comfortable in executive rooms.
    • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or analytics (or equivalent experience).
    • Demonstrated drive, curiosity, initiative, and self-direction; thrives in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness and ability to travel to the United States on a quarterly basis to represent the company at conferences, lead client engagements, and support key relationship-building initiatives
    • Bonus: Experience in home improvement, home services, or lead generation.
Benefits of Working at CDM
  • Competitive base salary + performance-based bonuses
  • Flexible remote work environment with option for in-person collaboration (Vaughan, ON)
  • Group Benefits - Medical, Dental, Vision, RRSP/401k Plan w/matching, more.
  • Company-provided MacBook computer
  • Home office budget and Clever merch delivery to get you started
  • Work Abroad Policy: Need a new working environment? Our work abroad policy supports this!
  • The chance to shape and grow a high-performing Enterprise Client Success team
  • A culture of performance and respect where the best work happens with extreme ownership and accountability meets collaboration.
